((Sorry, I wasn't very clear--and probably wasn't reading well. But they really haven't met, yet.))
Cry-Baby was a little distracted, and had to drag himself back to the present. "Hey. Sorry. 'm Cry-Baby. Realized we hadn't really met, though Brandi told me 'bout you. It's good to finally see you face to face. Didn't want to take up any more of your time, but wanted to welcome you, f'r what it's worth."

"You wouldn't have had many chances to see me," Kiba explained. "I don't live inside, and whenever I do come in it's usually to check on Helen."
What did humans say if they had to leave? (They said a lot of things, really, but a plain "goodbye" probably wouldn't sound right.)
"Well... if you need me for anything, just call me. I don't wander too far."

Cry-Baby nodded at him. "Fair 'nough," he said. "Nice to meet you, finally. 'M often in the nursery, or the kennels, if y'need me."

"Well, bye."
He let down his disguise since there was no point in keeping it up by now, and pushed the door open to get out.

***NEW DAY***
*Brandi seemed in an uncharacteristically good mood as she made it downstairs and got started on those waffles. Things would be just fine. Maybe not exactly the same, but fine nonetheless. She had her baby and he had her. They could deal with the rest of it from there.*

Smiling, Cry-Baby came up behind Brandi and grabbed her around the waist and holding her close.
"Kids're fine," he said. "Kris seemed all lit-up at the idea we're back together an' said she'd watch 'em a few minutes more. Or maybe she really likes waffles."

*She jumped a little at the touch, but it was so delightful. Brandi squirmed back against him affectionately as she worked the batter smooth.*
"Can't say I'd blame her." *She looked back at him with a grin.*
"She doin' all right?" *She asked, knowing that she'd had to pick up a lot of slack as of late.*

Cry-Baby shrugged without removing his arms from around her. "Doesn't complain," he said. "Seems okay. Dunno when she sleeps, thought."

*Brandi chuckled. It was hardly like she had to, but still.*
"Yeah, that sounds like her." *She agreed before ladling some batter into the hot iron and pressing it with a delightful hiss.*
"I'm just sorry that ya'll had to deal with so much while I was out. I tried to be quick about it."

"Nah, it's cool," he said. "Did what you had to, with more success than I did," he pointed out. "Just glad to have you back. And waffles."

"Yeah..." *Brandi shut her eyes and leaned back against him, inhaling deeply.*
"Yep." *She determined without moving.*
"Pretty close to heaven in my book."
*Finally forced to lean forward, she pulled a golden waffle from the iron and onto a large platter, ladling in the next one.*

It was Cry-Baby's turn to inhale. "You're too good to me, baby," his tone light but his meaning vast. He looked forward to other things getting back to normal, too.
"He say anything 'bout when he's takin' the kids?" he asked suddenly. He figured he didn't have to specify who he was talking about.

*Brandi's body only tightened a moment, then she shook her head, not looking back to him.*
"He didn't. Didn't say much of anything. I think something might have happened. But he seemed eager enough to be rid of me." *She frowned at the bowl in front her.*
"He was being...really weird."

"'magine that," Cry-Baby said dryly. "War, bein' weird. No idea what had him spooked?"
He wasn't leaving the kids here. There was no way. It wasn't so much that he wanted to see them under that crazy guy's thumb, but he and Brandi had their own life. Or they had, once.
"They ain't gonna be containable for long, I'm thinkin'. We'll have to do somethin'."

"Just gotta bunch of papers in his room and was babbling and not making much sense. And then he wanted me to leave. So I did."
*But he had a point. And that made Brandi kinda depressed. Rescuing the next waffle, she turned back to him.*
"Something like what? I mean...you think they need some sort of...I don't know, activities or something?"
*She frowned in thought and reloaded the iron.*
"I suppose we could start training them. If we had to. I mean, it might focus their...energy or whatever."
