"Ah!"
Fenris was used to being picked up, at least. This new body, however, would take getting used to. He bobbed his head, though that hadn't been what he was trying to do, and accidentally grabbed a fistfull of Cry Baby's shirt.

Cry-Baby didn't mind that, though, and it was only natural. He steadied the kid and looked down at him curiously.
"Well, we'll have to see if Brandi knows who you are," he said softly, rocking him gently. "Your eyes look familiar though. 'Most like that pup, strange as it is to say. Where's Fenris, Sirius?"
The dog unexpectedly whined and pawed at his leg, as if he'd understood, which Cry-Baby assumed to be impossible.

*Her Sueauthor senses tingling, Brandi just so happened to open the door with a tray full of dishes, ready to be washed. She startled for a moment, just not having expected anyone, much less Cry-Baby. But seeing the baby in his arms, she sighed in relief. The tray was awkward though, so she went straight to the sink.*
"Hey, Baby." *She said warmly in passing. She paused for a moment, her brow furrowed before continuing to the sink. She'd felt...but it couldn't. Not with the child there. But still...something in her belly tingled. Brandi glanced back at him with a smile, trying to shuck off her worry.* "You doing ok?"

"Hey," he said softly, hair falling over his eyes as if on cue. He missed her somethin' fierce, even living here. He'd been avoiding her, taking care of the dogs, odd chores around the place, only ever approaching her with a baby in his arms. Led to some amount of frustration, it was true, but hurtin' her was worse than that.
He shook his bangs out of his face. "'m fine," he said. "But it looks like there's a new kid in town. No idea who he is; just found 'im here in the kitchen."

In the vague period of time before his "Kill Menelaus For Real" plan was enacted, Kiba wasn't doing anything in particular--it was surprisingly quiet when he didn't have to search for Paradise.
A vaguely familiar scent interested him (Brandi's mate was finally here in person), but with the yelps from both pups and the sudden human tinge to Fenris' scent, he started wondering just what was happening inside.
He went into Le Rouge to find a distressed Sirius, a baby with Fenris' scent, and the two alphas generally unaware of what had just happened. Not that he was any more certain, but...
Sirius, calm down. He said, nudging the pup to stop his antics. He then put up his human disguise to ask, "Brandi, that kid smells like Fenris. Did you have any idea what happened to him?"

Cry-Baby blinked and stood back, Fenris still in his arms, as the wolf changed shape into a man. Brandi had told him, but he hadn't met the creature yet--and whether as a wolf or because he could change, the sight was not something he was prepared for. But his reaction was surprise only, and he recovered quickly, standing his ground and shifting the kid to one side to leave a hand free.
"Fenris?" he repeated, looking back down at the kid. "But that don't make sense."

Sirius, for his part, was glad the wolf was there. He couldn't communicate with the people, and he knew it was Fenris, and couldn't say anything. He sat now, watching them closely and trying to understand the funny sounds they made.

"Fenris?" Kiba asked, peering at the baby and surreptitiously sniffing again to make sure his scent really was Fenris--which it was, aside from the human scent mixed in. Come to think of it, he had Fenris' fur color as well. "That's weird, you didn't smell like any sort of hybrid until now..."
Wasn't a werewolf supposed to be the other way around--human into wolf? And for that matter, wasn't it supposed to involve wolves?
The wolf exhaled and decided to ask Sirius, since the other pup was the only one to have any idea what was going on, and deciphering the pup's speech was far less confusing than dealing with hybrids. "Sirius, what happened to Fenris?"

Sirius wagged shortly, happy to be asked.
Fenris change, he said. His speech had improved a little as he grew and his brain developed, but tenses were a problem. Was dog, then wasn't! Pull ear. Smells like Fenris, but not-Fenris.

Well, at least they knew what happened--Fenris turned into a human. And apparently he'd pulled on Sirius' ear.
"So... Fenris did turn into a human," He told the other two. "That's all I've gotten, though. I wonder how long he'll stay like this."
While it irritated him to compare Fenris to Darcia, a voluntary change was permanent. Involuntary changes, though? He had no idea; and since his own human form was appearance-only, it wasn't the best comparison at all.

Cry-Baby, though he could not hear the interaction between the two, could certainly tell that something was going on. "Wait," he said. "Is Sirius talkin' to you?" He glanced at Brandi. "I didn't know he could do that."

Fenris bobbed his head at Kiba.
"Bah!"
Yet again, not a bark or a yip. But it would have to do.
It was...strange. Fenris got the feeling that he could...do...something...
For one moment, he was a puppy again. And then back to the baby.

Kiba gave Cry Baby a strange look, but let the matter go. "Yes, animals can understand each other. Whether they're coherent or not depends--"
Fenris' sudden change back into a puppy startled him, but it was short-lived as he changed back into a human after a moment.
"...It depends on how old they are," he finished. "And whether they have anything smart to say."
There was an unspoken hierarchy among animals, but it was entirely separate from the predator/prey one. Most animals were equal in intelligence, but it was obvious that several species--especially the domesticated ones--had only survived because there were too many to kill off right away.

Cry-Baby admirably did not drop Fenris during the change, but it felt strange. It confirmed it, though he believed the wolf. Man. Person. "Huh," he said, securing his hold on Fenris. "Jus' never thought about it like that," he confessed. "I'll bet they have all kinds of things to say. Too bad we can't hear 'em."

*Brandi stood there quietly, still trying to process everything. It had been a good thing that Kiba had come in when he did, for otherwise she might have touched Cry-Baby without hesitation. But in hindsight, the air was electric around him and she should have known. She had known. She shook her head at Kiba, implying that she didn't know what had happened to the previously-a-puppy. At Cry-Baby's confusion, she could only shrug helplessly. This was new to her too and she wasn't sure what to say.*
"Yeah." *She finally managed, a bit distant. Her mind was working, trying to sort this out.*
((Sorry to be so late.))
