*Lizzie bustled down the street to Rochester’s, box of strawberries in hand. She knew it was more proper to call ahead, to send word and make an arrangement to meet Alex somewhere, but for some reason she couldn’t wait. She was eager to try this kissing thing that Jeremy had suggested. She knew now that she liked boys, so all that was left was to prove to herself that she didn’t like girls. Then she could be ‘just friends’ with Alex and wouldn’t have to worry about what to tell Jake. She grinned nervously as stood on the steps and rang the bell. Suddenly she wasn’t sure why she brought the strawberries. It seemed like a weird gift to give a friend, but Jeremy said they would help. Surely he knew what he was talking about.*

*Rochester opened the door and looked very confused to see the young blonde back again. He had been under the understanding that things had not gone so well for Alex that night.*
“Miss Quinn…how can I help you? Would you like to come in?”

*Lizzie practically pushed herself inside past Rochester.*
“I’m so sorry, Mister Rochester. I just…I gotta find Alex. Can ‘ya give me directions to where I might find her? It’s real important or I’d never ask.”
*She had an air of urgency that even Rochester couldn’t ignore.*

*Alex was returning form one of her many solitary walks about Paris. Kris had started mysteriously disappearing rather often, and when she was about was morose and non-communicative. And Alex could think only about Lizzie. Well, Lizzie and that cat-girl, but who would blame her for that?
Hands deep in her pockets, she looked up only to see Lizzie disappear into the house. She thought about walking by, dismissed it instantly as unworthy of her, and stepped up the stairs.*
"Hullo, Lizzie."

*Before Rochester could answer, Lizzie heard Alex's voice and spun on her heel to face her. She hadn't been expecting her and all of her adrenaline had her flustered. Her eyes widened and she bowed her head to hide her fresh blush.*
"Oh! Mist--Mis--Alex. I...I didn't 'pect to find 'ya here. I mean, find about 'ya, but not..."
*She tried to calm herself, smoothing her skirts and looking up to her timidly. She thought about kissing her right then, being done with it, but Rochester's presence made her think better of it.*
"I...uh...'ya got a second we could talk?"

*Her heart lifted at the notion that Lizzie had come looking for her, but took a few tentative thumps back at her agitated state. Was she still angry? Or did her nervousness stem from something else entirely; something Alex might, in fact, welcome?*
"I'm... here a lot," *she said lamely.* "Yes, of course. There's a parlour just in here. After you?"
*She motioned for Lizzie to enter and grimaced painfully at Rochester. He'd laugh at her, she was certain, when he knew the whole story.*

*Lizzie smiled slightly and nodded, happy to be out of the doorway and presence of Rochester. She didn't have anything against him, she just didn't know him that well. She walked into the parlor and waited for Alex to come in behind her. She silently tried to decide on the best course of action. She hoped that Alex would shut the door behind her. She hoped...well a lot of things. She was starting to get all nervous and confused again.*

*Alex glanced behind her, and then at Lizzie, before shutting the door. She hoped Lizzie didn't take that to mean anything untoward; surely they could be alone, unchaperoned, with a bit of friendly talk that couldn't be overheard? There was never telling who was in Rochester's house.*
"I... I hope this morning finds you well," *she said, casting about for conversation.*

*Lizzie spun on Alex as the door shut, intent on her decision just to kiss her and be done with it, but halfway through the motion, her arms lifted to embrace her and two steps taken back to meet her, her resolve failed. Quickly her gaze fell and she lowered her arms. She's searched the floor, chewing her lip as she tried to recover quickly.*
"I...uh...there's somethin' that I wanna ask 'ya. But...I'm not sure how ya'd take it."
*She dared to look up timidly, obviously anxious but not angry.*

*Alex looked bewildered, not sure if Lizzie meant to embrace or attack her, or why she'd stopped. So she remained silent, waiting to learn what had brought the girl here.*
"I shan't be angry," *she said.* "No matter what. 'Pon my honor."
*She tried to smile encouragingly. Whatever what going on in that pretty little head, it wasn't easy, she knew that.*

*Lizzie wrung her hands nervously for a moment as she tried to explain.*
"I was feelin' messed up about everythin' and I met this fella' and he was tryin' to 'splain it all and that there ain't nothin' wrong with 'ya or somethin' but I might like boys. But I do...I mean..."
*She shut her eyes and took a deep breath.*
"I need to kiss 'ya again."

"Slow down. Aliens? Mutant? You're gonna have to be a lot clearer than that."
*Alex's head fairly spun at Lizzie's rapid-fire non-explanation. But she had to hide a smile, for all that. Poor Lizzie. She recognized the signs well; hadn't she gone through all this, and not so long ago?
She kept her serious mien, and nodded. She wanted to make this as easy on Lizzie as she could. And even if... even if it went nowhere, it was a last kiss. A goodbye. Better than nothing.*
"Very well," *she said.* "If it's what you need to do."

*Lizzie chewed her lip and took a timid step closer before looking up to Alex. She wet her lips and shut her eyes, trying to remember everything that Jeremy had told her. This would be it, she'd confirm that she liked boys and the problem would be solved.*
Here goes nothin'.
*She flung her arms around Alex's neck, pulling her to her lips with a full-efforted embrace. She kissed her hungrily, trying to remember everything that she thought she wanted and trying not to think about Alex's girl parts. She was supposed to be kissing her as a person, not as a girl, right? The kiss was long and deep and urgent. Finally Lizzie released her and stepped back, her face lowered. Her head was swimming. That didn't seem to help her at all. She wanted to...kiss Alex again? That didn't seem right...wasn't this supposed to make her want men? She stood helplessly, unsure of what to do.*

*The kiss was like nothing Alex had felt before. It was insistent, yes, and passionate--both of which she was familiar with. But the desperation and hunger were new, and she couldn't tell to whom they belonged. It made her mad with delight even as she fervently prayed it would not be their last.
When Lizzie backed away, breathing heavily and looking not at all like she liked boys and boys alone, Alex let her have her way for a moment, as she tried to still the furious beating of her own heart. Then she reached out and neatly grabbed Lizzie's hand, pulling the girl back to smother her once again, to drown in her, to take another of that which she suddenly felt she could not live without; even if it was the last.*

((Aww...*squee*))
*Lizzie's eyes opened wide as Alex took her echoing kiss, but was soon lost in some strange passion that welled between them. Unbidden, she felt her hands wander over Alex's back, burying in her hair and pulling her close. But this wasn't right. Something was off. She liked boys. She'd liked kissing Jeremy. What was going on? She pulled back unexpectedly and dropped her gaze to the floor.*
"I..uh...I..."
*Her words floundered between her breaths, audible with excitement.*
"I just...but I...I don't understand."
*The last words were little more than a whisper.*
