He wasn't disappointed. Armand twitched, very slightly.
Mine ~ !
And then he exploded up from his chair, his hands shooting out to hit the table, his expression furious and intent. "Why?" he demanded, with a forwards jolt that made his auburn curls swing. "Why you? Why did he- " His face was flushed- unusual for a vampire, unless they'd fed. The table didn't crack. "A mortal?"

*He leaned back in his chair, startled.*
"He doesn't seem to discriminate," *he said, trying to keep his voice even and aloof as always.*

Armand looked outraged.
"That slut!"

"Don't look so angry- what loyalty does he have to show to you?" *he asked with narrowed eyes.*

"What do you think!" Armand hissed. "I made him!" His eyes, narrowed into glittering slits, widened suddenly in spastic rage. His mouth tightened; his shoulders tensed with the strain of holding back movement. Then he jerked forwards, too fast for a mortal's eye to see, striking Dorian on the side of the face.
Almost immediately he fell still, his stiff shouders falling. Ah...that was too far. Mortals were so frail; he'd held back enough to keep from snapping Dorian's head off but he might have broken something. "I'm sorry," he said, awkwardly- Armand did not often apologize. He came out from behind the table, hesitated, then moved forwards, looking swift and purposeful. "That was uncalled for on my part," he said, bending forwards to place cool fingers to Dorian's jaw. "Are you badly hurt?"

*Dorian smacked his hand away.*
"I'm fine," *he snapped, his hand pressed against his jaw. He massaged it for a moment, then moved his hand away. Suprisingly, he was. There was tiny bit of discoloration- but the purple mark was already fading away.*

Armand frowned, withdrawing his hand- and then abruptly he stopped, his eyes glittering with sudden interest. The hand came out again, to hover above the place where the mark had been.
"Ohh?" he murmured, less a word than an intrigued little sound. "You heal very fast, Dorian Gray." He eyes flashed up, from Dorian's jaw to the mortal's eyes. "Care to explain?"

"No, actually, I don't," *he said, cursing inwardly.*

Armand stared at him. Then he smiled, very prettily, and offered Dorian a hand up.

*Dorian scowled at him and took the offered hand.*
"Let's just say that you people aren't the only ones with special talents."

"You people?" Armand raised an eyebrow. He looked amused and calm and...completely the opposite of a few minutes ago, when his control had broken. The difference was startling. And the mood swing had been too sudden to be entirely unfeigned- beneath, Armand was still simmering. But now he had something else to force his mind off the increasing pressure of the Daniel situation- and Armand threw himself into the new subject eagerly.
Armand pulled Dorian up easily, but didn't let go of the mortal's hand. He stood with his face tilted upwards, eyes intent on Dorian, seemingly without any intention of returning to his seat. "You have me at a disadvantage."

"A position I'm perfectly content keeping," *he said with a false smile. He was much less kindly disposed toward the vampire after he'd hit him.*

"What need do I have to tell you?"

"I don't know. Because I asked nicely?"
