*Faye found her simple grave and sat on it, peering sadly at the empty grass that had grown over the mound of earth, pressing her bare feet against the cold stone at its head. She wanted to cry, but found she couldn't. A flash of white caught her eye, and she saw a single snowdrop had taken root and flourished on her grave, and she couldn't help but smile.*
At least I have that...God remembers me, perhaps.

*The loss of Faye weighed heavily on Aimery. He had to get out of the Opera, but where could he go? To church, to confess...would the priest even believe such a thing? He walked the lonely street, sad and abandoned. But then he saw it, the cemetery. Was she there? If he couldn't be close to her spirit, at least he could be close to part of her. He took several steps towards it before he remembered his last visit to a cemetery, to visit his mother, to bring flowers to her before he left.*
Flowers...I have none. And I can't afford...
*He bit his lip and looked to the park down the way. A half hour later, Aimery entered the cemetery, a handful of young wildflowers, searching quietly through the headstones. There...it couldn't be. His knees grew weak. Instead of fighting it, he gracefully sank to his knees on the damp earth.*
Oh Faye...I'm so sorry. I missed you too much not to come.
*He tugged the overgrowth back, making her grave more proper and then set the wildflowers by her headstone, tracing her name in it.*
I'm sorry they're not better. I'll bring more...when I can afford them. Ill come visit you all the time. It can be just the two of us. I love you Faye. I miss you so much.

*Faye sat very still as Aimery worked, not allowing herself to reach out to him, even, simply drinking in his presence, loving him so much it hurt.*
Thank you...

*after Aimery left, Faye wandered aimlessly through the cemetary, absently twirling a buttercup between her fingers, humming a melancholy tune and staring gloomily at the sunshine. One or two mourners of other graves may have seen glimpses of the transparent girl with red hair dressed simply in white, floating along, but sightings of ghosts in graveyards are not uncommon, and only shook them up a little.*

***NEW DAY***
*After his next paycheck, Aimery bought some daisies and made his way back to Faye's grave. He diligently cleaned away the growth that had occurred since his last visit, which being the day before, had not been much. He set the daisies down with a sad smile.*
See? Just like I promised.
*He caressed the stone tenderly and placed a reverent kiss upon it. Then he sat back and smiled and pulled out some bread and an apple he had brought for lunch.*
I hope that things are going well enough for you. It think about you all the time, but the pain is getting better. I go to my rehearsals, put in my extra practice time...but now I can do it for you. It makes me want it more to think that you might be there watching, you might know how I dance for you.
*He sighed gently, placing one hand on the soft earth next to him.*
I miss your touch though. And not only...you know. I miss being able to hear you and to be heard by you. But I guess that's what this is all about, right?
*He stroked the earth beneath him.*
I hope you can hear me. I know you can't tell me you can, but I just have to hope. I have to believe. I know we can do this together. If we're patient, we will perservere. And you're worth it Faye. I love you so much.

**NEW DAY** *After the funeral service, the Booths arrived at the cemetary for the burial. Scarlett stood a little apart from her family, though closer to Teddy than the others. Her mother was leaning on her father for support, Penn gazing off blankly into space, none of them really watching the casket being lowered into the ground.*

Teddy put his arm around his sister's shoulders and brought her closer to the rest of the family. He didn't dare look at the hole in the ground. He was still trying to pretend that his brother wasn't dead.

*She was dressed simply, and she stood silently next to Katie, wondering how she was going to tell her about the baby.*

*Scarlett rested her head on her brother's shoulder, one hand curled around Michael's ring as usual, a talisman against sinking into complete and total depression. Katie sobbed into her husband's shoulder, while Penn actually stepped forward to stare down at the casket.*

*Micaela sighed and walked up to place a small hand on Penn's shoulder, looking up at him and wondering how he had gotten so much taller than she.*

*Penn stood there silently, unmoving, hardly seeming to breathe. Scarlett glanced over at Teddy, looking slightly nervous.*

Everyone in the family walked over to Penn, doing supportive things such as putting their arms around him or patting him on the shoulder.

*Scarlett walked over to him, completely dwarfed by her tall brother. She hugged him silently, standing with her arms around him and gazing down at the casket.*

*She knew very well that she couldn't do anything for him--this was his pain. She had lost her siblings when she was not much older than they--she remembered that it was like losing part of herself.*
