Considering the Bifrost turned out to be a screaming rainbow wind tunnel thing that apparently acted like a cosmic vacuum cleaner when it came to transporting people, Megan immediately shouted that she would probably die if she ever had to do this unprotected.
The radio had cut out almost instantly after Thor called it down, and she had tried to give herself some sense of normalcy by quickly slamming in the nearest tape.
The tape’s label had said it was Pirates of Penzance. What started playing was some greatest-hits album by Queen.
More specifically, it was “Don’t Stop Me Now”, which was still playing when the Jeep came flying out into some kind of pavilion, making a rough drift landing as Thor slammed the brakes. The Jeep skidded sideways across the floor- Megan could tell they were in some kind of pavilion, with a brief glimpse of sky before they were turned around again by the force of the skidding- and just barely missed hitting the wall as he turned it off.
There was a moment of silence, except for the popping of the car cooling. Megan looked at Thor, wide-eyed.
“...did it work? Is this-“
She leapt out of the car and dashed across the marble floor, only vaguely aware of her surroundings, toward the open threshold she’d seen, and stared forward across a long glassy bridge over a vast body of purplish water, to a towering city dominated by a mass of golden spires on the other end.
“Oh shit,” she said, clutching her head suddenly. “I’m in Asgard.”

Thor was laughing, getting out of the car and slamming the door shut. "Heimdall! You genius, I wasn't sure if that was going to work!"
The gatekeeper, who had only in passing swept his eyes - magical and strange, the color of honey - over at Megan, no doubt seeing more than the serenity of his expression let on, allowed Thor a smile, and only briefly startled when the former heir to the throne wrapped his arms around him and hugged.
"Thor," he acknowledged. "Asgard misses you nearly as much as you seem to have missed it."
"Asgard has its new heir," said Thor, grinning broadly.
"Indeed she does," said Heimdall, but he said no more than that. Thor looked at him knowingly and returned to the car, and to Megan. Striding down the bride to her, he said, "Megan, this is Heimdall, the keeper of the Bifrost. No one enters this realm without him knowing it."
Heimdall gave him a look that very nearly spoke of weariness, but thought better of expressing it; Thor mock-grimaced as he looked back at him, looking two seconds away from winking.

Megan turned, startled, having missed that there was anyone else there when she jumped out of the car.
"Oh, sorry- it's so good to meet you. I'm Megan, Thor's been staying with me for a few months."
As she came closer and could make out the face in the helmet, her mouth popped open a little, though she managed to shut it just as quickly. Asgardians were apparently extremely good-looking as a general rule.
She hesitated a few steps in front of him, unsure of what to do, and then settled on curtseying with her jacket as the skirt.
"Thank you for having me. I don't really know what the policy is here as far as, um, guests are concerned."
She straightened up again and folded her hands in front of herself, looking at Thor a little anxiously.

Heimdall conveyed gentleness almost as readily as he intimidated.
"You are welcome, Miss Elness, to all that Asgard has to offer," he said, bowing out as Thor very gently steered her back towards Asgard. He could be heard to ask her, "Now what do you think, should we take the car, or do you want to walk..."

She chose the car, because she was starting to doubt her legs were going to hold up for too long, She was feeling more than a little dizzy.
Driving down the bridge with the windows rolled down, however, restored her spirits by quite a bit. She held her hand out- the air was cool, but less bitter and dry than it had been in Queens- and laughed.
“This is amazing, I can’t believe you live here...”
He had to slow down as they passed through the city gates, of course, though that didn’t seem to be much comfort to the suddenly very startled townspeople walking around on the streets. Megan leaned her head out of the window.
“Sorry! I promise we’re not a dragon or anything!”
She looked at Thor and burst out laughing.
“Oh, I hope I’m not going to get you in trouble-“

Thor was a practiced blend of amiable and somewhat stately, and it was clear he had done this for a long time.
"You know," he said to Megan in a lull between shouting out greetings to his citizens, "I could fly you to the palace-"

“No, no, this is fun,” she laughed. “As long as it’s okay, I’m okay with this. Gosh, I feel like a celebrity or something.”

Thor squinted out the window for an uncomfortably long moment before deciding, "It's okay."
He parked just at the end of a magnificent set of stairs.

Megan clambered out of the Jeep and up the first few stairs.
“Hello, Asgard!” she said, making a big waving motion with her right arm, fingers spread as her hand arced over her head. A few passers-by were exchanging deeply confused looks- and it wasn’t hard to guess why. Other than being tall, she looked nothing like any of the women looking at her, all of whom had elaborate long hair- often pulled back in a way that allowed curled billows at their temples- and long, draping dresses. Megan’s short hair was hidden almost completely under her knit hat, and her coat, stockings and boots were all that really showed of her outfit.
She pulled her hand in, a little embarrassed, and looked to Thor as he got out of the car.
“Too much?”

He heard some exclaim to their companion behind them, "Now the other prince has got one!"
Thor took Megan gently by the arm and started up the steps, chuckling.
"Not by my standards."

Megan glanced over her shoulder at the source of the voice, eyes wider than she intended them to be.
“Did you hear that? Loki must have brought Teja here.”

"Yes, they were married here."

“Wait- they’re married?”
Furthermore, people thought Thor brought her here to marry her?
“God, I’m so out of the loop-“

“I don’t talk to them and you didn’t tell me!”
When they got inside, Megan took off her hat and pulled her pocket mirror out of her bag to smooth her hair back in place.
“See, you can say whatever you like about how much I cry, but at least it means I ended up on the other side of the universe with a makeup kit. So, what’s next?”
She snapped the mirror shut and dropped it in her bag, beaming at him.
