She grinned at him.
"Hmm...could I hold it?"

"Oh yea sure" he handed it to her slowly "be careful all the edges are sharp like a knife."

Be careful like she'd been warned, she held the bat-shaped objects in her hands. It was a really curious object, when you thought about it.
"I wonder what would make a person do such things?"

"He just must really hate injustice?" Dick laughed and rubbed his stomach a little, stuffed from all the food "I don't know, I mean, it's really cool though."

She pretended to throw it, not actually letting go, before laughing and handing it back to him.
"It's lighter than it looks."

"Right?" He threw it up and down for a minute before putting it back in his wallet "I wonder what it's like to be him?"
He leaned back in the chair and smiled "Must be pretty awesome."

She looked thoughtful for a moment, only really half-paying attention to the food in front of her.
"Chasing criminals and running on rooftops. It sounds exciting."
She suddenly giggled.
"Maybe he learned the rooftops because he used to be a tightrope walker."

"Oh sure, the Batman was a circus brat yea I don't think so" he laughed, but didn't manage to smile "you don't really get to do much if you start off here. People like us don't usually aspire to much more."

"Sure, maybe" he leaned forward "but didn't you ever wonder what it would be like to be normal just for a second? Go to a normal school, do normal things, with normal people your age?"
He shook his head "Hell, I'd even hope for an extraordinary life than this one any day." He sighed and looked over at her "I'm sorry, didn't mean to get all weird."

She bit her bottom lip for a moment, thinking.
"of course. I think about it a lot, but...I also think of the good things I have now."
Not to mention, it was impossible for her to go back to normal now, what with her fire ability.
"And it's not weird. Lots of people think these things."

He chuckled "I just feel like, nothing's ever going to change you know?"
He pushed his hair back and sighed, looking just a bit older than his seventeen years "Just in a rut that's all, need something new" he turned with a smirk "I mean you're new so that should be good enough right?"

"Oh! Well, I guess so, you can say, I'm a new thing." She said, reddening a bit.
"Hm! You are a new thing, too."

"Well then there goes my plans to stay in this rut forever, why I myself am an affront to it" he grinned.

She laughed.
"Hmm...do you get to go outside the carnival? Like, see the city?"
She an idea...one that she hoped would work. She'd never been the one to ask a boy to go somewhere with her before.
