She blushed.
"Thank you! I...I've been trying to think of what should go in the parts that were enchanced, and I hit upon it a few months ago while I was balancing a plate, of all things."

"Inspiration often strikes one oddly," he agreed. He wondered how she could have developed her skill without sight. It made what he did quite banal by comparison.

"Oh, yes. Great things can come from the innocuous."

He didn't know exactly what she meant by that, and as usual was stymied by his suethor's inability to figure out what to do next. "I think you're ready," he assured her. "Is there anything else I can do?"

She thought about it for a moment, then shook her head.
"There's not much else, beyond this. I would go into Paris, but I don't know the city well enough to not get lost in it."

"Oh!" he exclaimed softly. "Well, I... I do not know it well, but I would be happy to accompany you, if ever you require it. Or could use the company."

An opportunity to leave the circus, and away from whatever might remind her of recent events, was a welcome one.
"I would like that very much."

"Good," Gwynplaine said. "When?"
((I really don't know what to do with them. I'm sorry.))

((Yeah, same here.))
"Tomorrow, after the show? I don't really have any plans."

"I'll be there," Gwynplaine said softly. "But I fear... I have a performance of my own scheduled, I ought to go..."
((I will try to think of something. This is lame. I mean we are.))

((Lol, yeah. We had conflict but I guess that wasn't quite enough. D'oh)) "Oh, of course! I won't keep you from your work--I'll be here, perfecting the new routine. "

Gwynplaine did not mind being kept from his work, but he needed the money, and it was with profound regret that he took his leave.
"It seems perfect already," he said. "Until tomorrow, Mademoiselle."
Before he went back to his own tent, however, he located the masked boy. He, too, had regular performances, but seemed always about when Gwynplaine needed him. He did not necessarily trust the boy, but he did not distrust him, either, and set him to guarding Josephine.

Erik stood by the tent flap. Every so often, he snuck a glance at the pretty lady inside. He did not have to be told by the smiling man that he wasn't to be seen; Erik did not particularly like being seen. And he knew he needed more money, if he was ever to leave the sort of life that required his being seen, so Gwynplaine's payments were welcome.
It dawned on him, as he watched, that the lady was blind, and therefore grew bolder in his watching.

**NEW DAY**
It seemed, to Josephine, that the circus had decided to put down permanent roots in Paris. While that was perfectly all right, Josephine could not really stay here--she had no ties to this place, and thanks to a lot of recent unpleasantness, she'd rather not stay. True, she'd found a kind soul in Gwynplaine, but he seemed to be the only one that could truly be a friend.
So, she was moving on, promising to write to Gwynplaine whenever she could, keeping him updated on her travels. Maybe one day she'd come back here, but not after she'd taveled as far as she could.
So it was that Josephine's caravan, at least, packed up and moved on.
