He took the tie with a very chagrined expression.
"Everything's...just fine...I remember."
Stumbling around, talking like...they were kids? He couldn't recall anything else.

"Good," *she said as she looked around the bed for her shirt. Finding it, she quickly pulled it over her head. Once that problem was solved, her hangover kicked back into gear.*
"Oh, my head," *she moaned in pain.* "Okay, I know what to do. I need a sports drink, as much vitamin B you can get your hands on and one dill pickle. Do you have all of those?"

Now dressed in rumpled clothes, he made an attempt at smoothing his hair back, though it seemed to refuse being toyed with.
"Alfred can definitely get you the hang-over stuff. I'll ask him to make that double, in fact."
He winced, rubbing at his forehead.
Never again.

"Good. Then I'll head back to my room and--"
Wait a minute.
*Lois stopped and slowly looked up at Bruce. Her expression was grave.*

He stopped in the midst of reaching for the intercom on the wall.
"What is it?"

"Okay, no," *she said to herself, shaking her head.* "I must've been really drunk. Nevermind."
He's Batman, I'm freaking Marie Antoinette. Yeah right.

Thanks to unreliable drunken memory, Bruce didn't even remember telling Lois that he was Batman...though he did recall some silly conversation where she was Spider-woman.
"That makes two of us. I just remembered that I called you Spider-woman."

"Are you serious? I told you about my fear of spiders? God, that's embarrassing..."
*Lois shook her head.*
"No, I mean... did you... tell me that you know who Batman is?" *she asked cautiously.*

There was a moment of silence as Bruce tried to dredge up the memory, but all he could remember was...
"I said I was afraid of bats. That had to be when you told me about spiders...but I don't remember talking about Batman."

"Oh," *she said then laughed it off.* "I am so out of it. Okay, well, I'll be in my room getting cleaned up."
*With that, Lois left the room. Once outside in the hallway, she frowned. There was something she had a memory of but didn't know if it was her wild imagination or not. But she knew one thing for sure: She was going to find out.*

Once Lois had gone, Bruce rang Alfred and informed him of the need for the hang-over cure. Done with that, he changed into a fresh set of clothes of before heading back of this room.

**NEW NIGHT**
While he had been able to save the many anonymous citizens of Paris from a whole slew of nastiness, he'd been a failure in protecting Lois, and Caleb, Jess and even Alfred. Maybe it shouldn't be hitting him as hard as it was, especially after the letter he'd found from Lois in his office--but somehow, it seemed to just skew things away uncontrollably.
Also, Jess seemed to be in trouble again, if the news from Monte Carlo was any indication. But that wasn't his business anymore, was it? She had Stark, the Iron Man, and what there had once been between Bruce and her was long over now.
Or, that's what he told himself. It still stung, still bit, and perhaps it always would, like the loss of his parents did from time to time. As he sat with his scotch on the rocks, he mused on how, on the surface, he and Stark were alike, but how differently both of their lives had gone. Stark seemed to have everything. All Bruce had, now, was Alfred...and Batman.
So be it. Once the scotch had worked it's way back out of his system, he would once again return to the rooftops and streets of Paris.
