*Lois vaguely caught the tone but dismissed it. She was sure she was just looking into things a little more than she should.*
"Yeah, I should," *she said with a quick nod.* "Slip it under the door? It's always locked."
*She only caught it after she said it but it sounded like it had a bit of attitude attached to it. No more than something that would come up in the usual ten minute conversation with Lois Lane but, nonetheless, it was there.*

Jess smiled "Cool" standing up she stretched her back "well it was nice talking to you Ms. Lane, I'll be at dinner tonight so we can continue to speak then." Nodding softly she started walking toward the house before turning around "Oh and Ms. Lane? Thanks for keeping Bruce sane" and in to the house she went.

*Lois watched her go then turned back to the large packet of papers.*
"Yeah," *she sighed.* "Sane..."

**NEW DAY**
Bruce was rather bored. Though he had plenty to occupy his time, business or conversations with Lois, he still felt restless. Not that talking to Lois was at all boring--conversations with here were always entertaining and lively. She was smart and witty, with her own quirky sense of humor.
No, it was something else. He'd been seeing these same walls over and over again, and it was getting dull. Struck with a sudden inspiration, he left his office to seek out Lois. If she wasn't up to anything at the moment, then she could come with him...

((That conversation with Jess happens WAY after so...))
*Lois had been down to the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea earlier in the morning. After almost breaking half a dozen things trying to find the tea kettle, she finally got the water boiling. Now, with a cup of tea in hand, she rounded a corner just in time to see him walk out of his office. Smiling, she leaned against the wall of the hallway and watched him walk away for a moment before speaking.*
"Off to a corporate meeting?" *she said, half knowing that he wasn't.*

"Nooo, actually I was looking for you."
He smiled. Lois was one of the few things right now that could get him to do that.
"I've been wondering--we've been holed up indoors for far too long. How'd you like a little change of scenery?"

*Lois gripped her cup a little harder as she held back a vague feeling of panic at the idea of going anywhere beyond the gardens. But she realized that opting to stay would, among other things, be an admission of weakness. She quickly pushed all those thoughts aside and smiled. Spending time alone with Bruce was reason enough for her to push past her fears.*
"Depends..." *she said coyly, even though she had already made up her mind. Without taking her eyes off of him, she took a sip from her cup.*

"Well...the grounds around the mansion are gorgeous this time of year, and it's been a while since I went for a drive--how about we cruise through the countryside?"
He'd specifically left out any city excursions, knowing full well that any of their enemies would be more likely to be hanging about Paris proper than the woods and grasslands that surrounded it.

*Her coy smile was quickly replaced with a look of yearning. The one thing that she had wanted to do...*
"I'd love that."

"Great...how about right after lunch?"

"Now," *she insisted.* "Pack leftovers for lunch."
"You have done that before, right?" *she teased.*

"Absolutely. Spontaneous things like that are more fun than planned."
He was already moving into the kitchen as he spoke.

*She laughed as she followed.*
"I was talking about leftovers, playboy," *she said, lightly slapping him on the arm.*
*She took the picnic basket that was hanging on the wall, set it down then looked through the refrigerator.*

"There should be some from dinner last night. Alfred really out-did himself that time."

"Yeah, I felt guilty leaving that much food uneaten. I blame my mom for reminding me all those starving African children every time I had stuff on my plate."
*All the leftovers were already neatly packed and all she had to do was place them in the basket. She then put in a few utensils, plates and napkins and they were ready.*
"Let's go," *she said, taking his hand.*
