No, Heike was certainly not a vampire. But she was here anyway as she'd had an inkling that someone needed some direction, and none of the local populous was willing to provide it. True, the locals at the moment were blood-sucking fiends, but still...one would expect them to have some kind of courtesy, no matter how depraved they might be.
Manners!
"Looking for something?" She asked Lucy--she most certainly knew who this really was.

John jumped a bit, having not seen the blonde with the drink in her hand a few seconds ago. At least, she hadn't been over there at that table when his gaze had swept past previously.
"Er...yes. A scientist, actually."

Heike's eyebrows went up as she made a "ooooh?" sound. Of course, she did know precisely what he was looking for, but it was rather obnoxious to be running around saying things like "we'll be friends" and "oh, your sick uncle is going to make it but still writing you out of his will."
"A scientist, eh? That's a rather odd thing to be looking for in a place like this." She waved a hand at the club proper.

"I'm only here because the Underground tends to know things that other sources might not."
She was strange, stranger than anything he'd encountered before, and he couldn't quite place why that was. She wasn't a vampire, but he got the feeling that she was still not only immortal but also ancient.

"Well, as it just so happens, I do know a scientist or two."
She idly stirred her drink as she spoke, as though she had all the time in the world...and she did, actually.

She definitely had his attention now.
"Who?"

She grinned to herself. She couldn't help--she liked getting attention.
"Several. What exactly did you have in mind?"

"Just someone that knows chemistry really well. And, er, biology."
While John was a bit more articulate than his original self, he only had Lucy's knowledge of the world, which was fairly limited when it came to sciences.

Poor thing didn't quite know what he needed or wanted in this case. But, she had a no-interference rule that she (mostly) followed.
Most of the resident scientists in Paris knew those two disciplines, but who to try...
West would just wind up making things worst...Frankenstein, the poor bastard, was in no shape to attempt anything thanks to his zombie troubles...Dr. Horrible wasn't quite what Lucy and Jekyll needed...
That left only one, and while he wasn't exactly a shining example of goodness, he was certainly brilliant.
"Dr. Crane?"

John, and Lucy for that matter, had never heard of him...not that that meant much. The doctor Lucy had ever really learned the name of had been her own Dr. Jekyll.
"Where can I find him?"

"Hmmm...well, he used to hang about the opera house infirmary quite a bit, but he seems to frequent Charenton often enough...I'd say try the asylum first and then the opera house."

John's eyes widened.
"The asylum? What kind of doctor is he?"

"He knows chemistry! That's what you asked for, isn't it? Besides, man has to have an occupation--how else would he make a living?"
Never mind what sort of chemistry Crane normally indulged in...

"Well...yeah...but still. An asylum?"
She was starting to get impatient with him, he could see, and he quickly continued.
"But I'll try that. What have I got to lose?"

Your sanity?
"Doesn't hurt to try."
No, she was not being malicious in sending him to Dr. Crane--Heike could see that Crane, like it or not, was in Harris and Jekyll's futures. What the outcome of that would be, she couldn't say...while she could certainly see the future, she could only usually get basic details.
