*Madame Giry went to speak to the doorman regarding Monsieur Flashman.*
"Don't detain him--not yet. Just make note of his comings and goings," *she said quietly.* "Who he is with..."

First things first. Need to make the acquaintance of some friendly faces with influence here. Military men are the best, even a frog-eating Jean-Crapaud will have heard of the fearsome reputation of Flashman of Piper's Fort, the Hector of Afghanistan. Wine and dine, feet under the table... and then we'll see if we can't rattle our way through the entire corps de ballet and leave Weary-Giry having to hire out bar girls to fill out the line.
Flashman set off for the nearest likely watering hole in search of new friends. Even Thomas lying-bastard Hughes in his scurrilous "Tom Brown's Schooldays" libellous novel admitted that Flashy had considerable powers to charm. He smiled to himself. That along with languages, horsemanship, fornication and cricket was one of his most valuable skills.
The game was on!

((Oh he will. I'm sure he'll lose, he usually does... but it may be fun getting there. Since I'm new to the Sueniverse who are the likely influential military or aristocratic types he ought to be schmoozing...?))

((That *would* be fun. Want to see Flashy break the land speed record at the first sign of a fang...I shall lurk in a coffee house in the appropriate subforum and see who comes along))
