"But..." She struggled to find something to say that would make her feel a little better, then gave up and sobbed a bit louder.

Clara rolled her eyes and began to look around. She noticed a boat tied to the shore of the lake. "Someone lives here," she said. "We oughta be careful. This could be where that creepy man lives—or maybe the Ghost."

Her sobs quieted immediately. "The Ghost's nicer, right?" She whispered fearfully.

"Well then what are we supposed to do?" Her voice was running higher and higher pitched. "Sit here and wait for someone to come and find us?"

She grit her teeth. "I don't know! Just shut up and let me think for a bit!" she yelled. It was quite obvious how angry she was—she never said shut up as a rule.

She sat down unhappily with a very exaggerated sigh and hugged her legs to her chest.
"I thought you said this would be fun," she mumbled into her knees.

"It was going to be until you decided to follow that stranger! I was gonna show you the demons at the furnaces and the well I found and ways to spy on people, but, no, you had to be impatient! You had to follow the creepy man!"

She buried her head between her knees unhappily.
"You weren't a perfect angel either, you know." She said quietly, her voice muffled by her skirts.
