*Said cat yowled again and sunk her teeth into the ankle, trying with all her few pounds to yank him down from the air. Obviously, there was some higher power at work here, and, after grooming herself so carefully, she didn't want to risk being kicked in the dirt (or bruised.)
She let go, limped over to the man with the white thing on his face, and meowed pitifully.*
the stupid boy nearly killed me! aren't you going to do something?
((yeah, I know you can't hear her. But she's still thinking it.))

Peter swung his sword at the cat as it dropped from his leg. his foot started to bleed. Peter motioned for Tink to watched the cat.
"come on, like if I didn't fly it would be a fair fight." Peter laughed and swooped in and sliced at the arm holding Shadi *careful not to hit her* "get out of here Shadi! leave him to me."

*Blanchette would have rolled her eyes if she could. humans and their need to fight... especially the males!*

*The white cat nearly glowed in the moon-and-fairy light reflecting off the water, but Erik had no idea why it was there. Was he suddenly a magnet? He wondered about that. The opera was newly wired for electricity, and he'd taken pains long ago to divert power to his lair. Could he somehow and turned himself into--he shook his head. There were other things to deal with.
He let go of the girl's arm, nearly shoving her from him. With the daroga's blood flowing through her veins, she was likely to get hit by the boy anyway. Meanwhile, the cat was winding herself about his legs, which under other circumstances he'd find flattering. Though he'd have to warn Fievel-mouse.*
"I do not keep you here," *he said, his voice quiet but carrying.* "Leave, boy, before you hurt your so-called friends in your paltry efforts to humiliate me."

*Shadi stumbled away from Erik when he released her, and she turned as she righted herself. Stupid boys! Males in general. They ruined everything. She threw herself between Peter and Erik.*
"Stop it! Both of you!" *she shouted.* "Peter, if he wanted us dead, he'd have killed us before we stepped on shore. He's done worse for less reason." *She looked over her shoulder at Erik.* "Isn't that right?"
*A nearly-stunned Erik could only nod. Shadi reached for River's hand.*
"Let's go," *she said.* "I have a feeling we're doing him a favor, by giving him company."

Peter frowned at the waste of time and he didn't even get a good fight.
Peter slowly followed Shadi out.

*River grabbed Shadi's hand and stared at the stairs that led to the upper floors.*
"We could always go and beat up one of the other residence serial killers."

*Blanchette continued rubbing agianst the man's legs. His pants were soft, and she had decided to tolerate him, as he had driven off those silly children. The ones who had almost killed her... or ruffled her coat, anyway.*

*Erik frowned at the retreating forms of the children as they swam away. The fools! To think they could enter Erik's domain and leave unscathed!
Which was, come to think of it, exactly what they did. Did he have a fever? It was all the daroga's fault, that immense simpleton! But when had blood relationship to that idiot become some sort of obligation not to kill someone? And the other girl and boy weren't spawn of his.
It was all very unnerving.
He looked down finally to see a white cat leaving traces of herself all over his dark trousers.*
"I appreciate the assistance you provided earlier, but Erik's cleaning bill is hefty enough as it is."
*He wondered, for a moment, if the cat would answer, but remembered that was crazy-talk. Only mice could speak.*

((Oh, the joys of having multiple personalities *and* fluid sexuality!))
*Shadi looked once over her shoulder as they swam away from Erik's house. Erik was bent over the white form of the cat who had appeared mysteriously. The image tugged at her a little--she had no fear that Erik would harm the cat, and at a certain point, though she couldn't remember when, she'd known he wouldn't hurt them. It made no sense, but she was certain just the same. She wondered what had happened between her father and this man. She wondered a lot of things.*

*Blanchette, who had understood the man's words though she could not reply, sat back from his legs a moment and frowned at him as best she could. (not having the muscles for it puts a damper on facial expressions.) Meowing indignantly, she batted one white paw at his shoe, which was distractingly shiny. She batted at it again (claws not drawn), and then pounced on it with both paws, but apparently shiny meant slippery too. She slipped off of the shoe, one paw on either side.*
((still no claws. I like Erik. I don't think I'll ruin anything of his... yet... NYARGH i can't get my avatar to pop up! it won't work on any other site, either!))

*Erik stood still as the cat did things to his shoe he could not quite comprehend the purpose of. Cats, of course, did not need shoes, so he could not imagine what she could object to about his. He stared down at her.*
"You remind me of some meddling children I did not kill a few minutes ago. Were you curious about Erik, too?"
((Suddenly having visions of Scooby-Doo villain!Erik. "Those meddling kids!"))
