"I told you, I'm rusty," Veidt said, with a laugh of his own. He slid himself off of the desk and went back behind it, with an affectionate grin at Adrien along the way.

It was such a strange concept, to think that the filing job he had here - boring, but dependable work he had not taken very seriously - was really his job. He had said it was a relief without sarcasm, but now he was questioning that. There wasn't a lot of room for personal gain at a job like that. Ending up somebody's secret lover, a rich somebody's secret lover to boot, that could be lucrative.
"Mr. Veidt," he said hesitantly.
