That was a full two years younger than Adrien Baillon. The abject disgust Adrian had discussed his actions regarding his ex-wife with was utterly absent from Johannes now.
"And you are truly faultless?" she asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she mimicked his apathy. "Thank God I sit here with a blameless man, then."

"I don't care if... if people grew up faster or whatever bullshit - I can't believe that in an era before widespread public education, growing up in some tiny hamlet somewhere, a seventeen-year-old girl with no resources being made a vampire and then staying with that vampire just to survive is at fault for her own unhappiness because she's - she's ambitious, or something!"
