By early afternoon, Adrian was seated in a chair at the side of his own bedroom, holding a cup of coffee with the kind of calm aloofness usually associated more with someone holding a small glass of brandy at 9 pm. He looked oddly younger than he had the night before, and was reading a travel magazine.

Dan happened to be on the other side of the room asleep on the bed. He'd come inside to inform Adrian about what Peter had told him about New York but when he'd come in to the bedroom he'd honestly been too stoned to function. So instead he went to sleep.
As he slowly came to, the realization that he'd been asleep caused him to jolt up in a panic.

Adrian set his magazine and his coffee cup aside.
"There you are."

"I-" he went to rub his eyes and found his glasses still on his face. He was still in his shorts and had no shirt on "Shit, hey."

"I'm going to have to preemptively ask you to not panic," Adrian cautioned him.

"Don't imagine a purple elephant" he countered "telling me not to panic right after I panic wake isn't exactly the smartest of plans." He threw his legs over the bed and took a deep breath "Although if this is about New York I all ready know."
But Adrian probably knew more.

"Actually," said Adrian, "I trust you to keep a level head about all that. I meant this."
He gestured at his own head. His hair was now very noticeably shorter than it had been even only a few hours earlier, still long enough to wave to one side in the front but trimmed to lay smoothly well above the collar everywhere else, and blond shot through with silver throughout. Despite the now-obvious graying, though, it made him look much younger and less craggy in the face, not too different from how he had looked in the papers twenty years ago.

Dan stood up and walked over to him, touching his hair gingerly "Did you do this yourself?"

"God, no. I've got a mechanical hand and no training whatsoever. Evans down in the engineers' resort has a daughter in cosmetology school; she's with her parents for the semester break. I think I terrified the poor girl just by asking, to be frank. I'm going to have to give her some kind of bonus compensation."

Dan chuckled and adjusted his glasses "She did a good job." He sounded hesitant but he meant it, it was a good look for him. It didn't mean he wasn't completely disappointed to see the hair cut. But he had to contain himself, not only had Adrian asked him not to panic but he'd made himself promise to stop over reacting.
"You look, younger" if that was possible. He all ready looked like a young man as it was.

"Thanks," said Adrian, smiling. "You see? Nothing to worry about. "

"Yea" he smiled and ran a hand through it, managing not to muss it up "nothing to worry about."
Ironically he worried about looking older standing next to him.

"Oh, by the way, Loki arrived last night with his little fiancée. The girl was assaulted by a vampire."

"I'm - I'm sorry?" He looked at his watch "I wasn't out that long was I?"

"It's been about-" Adrian looked at his watch- "hmmm. About 14 hours since they arrived. That's not surprising, between the jet lag and the marijuana. No, I'd say you're fine."
