Teja only had teeth in the metaphorical sense, but at the sound of that she whirled around and showed them.

Krolock gave his son a reproachful look before turning back to Teja.

It was a typical predator tactic to ask her to explain herself when she had suspicions of him - he knew there was nothing she could say.
"Have you been waiting for Loki to leave before approaching me?"

"I didn't wish to be rude," he replied, giving Herbert another pointed look. Herbert 's shoulders hitched up a little, and he peered at his father with childish resentment but didn't move away.
Krolock looked grimly apologetic.
"I'm terribly sorry."
