Tony was doing work on what would become Jess' suit. It was only about a quarter of the way finished, but in his head, he'd already worked out everything he was going to do ahead of time. Another upload version of Jarvis for the computer assistant, something that Jarvis seemed to be vaguely amused by. He'd just finished up for the day and had started shuffling things around so he could work on something else when a horrible pain shot through him--a pain that was all-too familiar, although this time it was a lot worse than it had been in the past. So bad, in fact, that he practically fell into a chair rather than sit in an attempt to not end up on the floor instead.
He hadn't been this pissed off in a while. The treatments he'd come up with had seemed to work, and for a while now there'd been no further incidents with the Palladium. Now, he realized, he'd just been delaying the inevitable: the treatments had just slowed it down, not stopped it completely. Worse, he still wasn't anywhere near a better solution to the problem. Taking a deep breath, he tried to stand, hoping to at least reach some of the leftover stuff he'd come up with to fight the poisoning. Obviously, it wouldn't cure squat, but it'd make the current pain tolerable enough for him to think more clearly and work on something better.
Tony made it only halfway across the room before he fell to the floor, unconscious.

Jess had been finishing up her speech for the Met Gala and decided to take a break to head down to Tony's lab to see what he was up to. He had been down there all day and usually she stayed out of the lab, not because he got upset but because he'd try to explain to her what he was doing and she ended up just sitting there nodding and feeling really really dumb.
Fluffing her hair out, she swiped her clearance card "Tony?"
She walked in a bit further, trying to listen for the tell-tell signs of tinkering and only got silence for her efforts. "Jarvis have you seen-" she stopped in her tracks "Tony!"
Tony was face down on the tile, not a moving. She fell to her knee's and rolled him over "Tony! Come on, come onn" she shook him softly and fumbled for a pulse "Wake up, come on baby don't do this to me!"

In a haze, he at first thought that he was imagining things, that Jess wasn't actually and there and he was only seeing what he wanted to. But she didn't disappear, and he painfully tried to point at the mini-fridge halfway across the room from them.
"Gr...green stuff. Need..."
To his ears, he sounded a hundred years old. But it was the best he could manage. Jarvis spoke up at that moment.
"It's in a quart-sized glass container," the A.I. said, sounding worried. "The second shelf, I believe."

Jess dropped his head gently and ran to the fridge, heels clacking against the tile floor, flung open the door and immediately found glass container.
She didn't waste time in closing the door and ran back to Tony, sliding on to her knee's and quickly lifting his head. He felt so heavy and wasted, Jess was holding back tears and she opened up the spout and pressed it to his lips.

Way too slowly, or so it seemed, he drank it down. The painful-looking blue streaks in his veins faded somewhat, though they didn't completely disappear. After a long pause, Tony opened his eyes.
"J...Jess?"

"Oh Jesus Christ Tony" she leaned her forehead on his.
She was shaking all over and she could feel herself on the edge of panic, that was the last thing either of them needed right now was for her to panic.
She couldn't be sure how the Queen would treat that.

He tensed as the pain flared for a moment before calming again, faded but still there.
"The damned...Palladium." He mumbled. "Poisoning's worse than I thought."
He still couldn't get up, and so he did his best, which was lean into Jess. Trying to move his arms and legs felt like he was doing it underwater.

"C-could you replace-" in Jess's mind she was counting back from 10 "-th-the core?"
She kicked her shoes off in case Tony decided to he wanted to try standing, she didn't want to try helping him up in 4 inch heels.
He's gonna diiiiie, he's gonna diiiiiie, he's gonna diiiiie. Cause there's no one in this universe that can help hiiiiim.
Jess shut her eyes and kept counting, up and down, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 9, 8- "Or just have that thing removed!" She clenched her teeth, she had to keep control "Tony I can't lose you, I can't, I-I can't."

He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself, although it was hard with the pain and seeing the look on Jess' face.
"It needs a replacement, something...something equal to Palladium. The problem is there's no such thing. But...I could try to make something."
He didn't say what else he was thinking: whether or not said non-existent element could be created before he dropped dead. Airing that thought wouldn't do either of them any good.

Jess knew what that meant.
Tony was a genius, but there was no way in hell he was going to just make something out of literally nothing.
She felt her chest swell and the shaking worsened. Tears she knew, though she couldn't feel them, were forming in the corners of her eyes.
Told you.
"Have you been changing out the core?" He'd mentioned something to her about that when he first admitted to being sick "Hasn't that been helping?"

Well, no, actually he'd been hoping that would be enough. What he thought was that it would only delay the inevitable.
You can save everybody but yourself.
He sighed. That line of thinking wouldn't do him a damn bit of good.

((So I'm thinking that maybe Regina/Mystique can be the one that brings him the information regarding his father, then maybe he can call Dan because they're both in this super group and have had little interaction, and they can create the new element, bring everything together!))
