The front page of the daily planet slowly popped up on every screen in Lex's office screaming loud and proud that the man of steel had in fact returned.
His body shook with rage as youtube began piling up with video testimonials of those who'd seen him. The media was in a frenzy with claims that he seemed to be hitting every major city in the world like a return tour. He didn't stay long and those who saw him claimed it was almost as if he was making up for lost time, stopping criminals and saving kittens alike.
Multiple news outlets from San Fransisco to Singapore attempted to get an interview, the best they got was a smile and a promise to make a statement soon to the Daily Planet.
Lex closed his eyes and attempted to reach a place between his overwhelming anger and absolute delight.
Everything would be so much more interesting now.
With the world tugging down at the capes on the backs of heroes after what Manhattan did, would any of them trust him? Between 20 to 30 percent of the videos contained somebody who felt uneasy about his return, others were down right afraid and still others were angry. How could they believe in him? Not after he abandoned them, leaving the US in the hands of Nixon and the world in the clutches of Dr. Manhattan?
There were still those who believed, those who still kept their posters of The Flash and Ozymandias on their walls, those who'd do anything to keep the heroes of the world running the show.
None of them deserved it, none of them worked as hard as he'd worked for as long as he'd worked to keep the world running the way it did.
Lex paced between screens and muttered swears beneath his breath. The inclusion of the Superman changed the game, he always changed the game. Lois Lane was still missing, Lex only prayed that she was dead or worse and the time it took for Superman to figure it all out would be enough time for Lex to become president and the Taskforce to clean up his schemes.
None of it looked easy and he found himself screaming out something intelligible just to release the pressure in his brain.
