"Dr. Banner is here to assist with the turbine prototype the resident team has been working on," said Adrian. "If we're to keep up what I started, we're going to need every possible deterrent from squabbling over natural resources we can find."

"I heard Stark was building some sort of self sustaining energy device, but other than a few hints here and there he's kept it pretty hush hush."
Dan leaned back and attempted to focus on the conversation at hand.
"And Dr. Connors?"

"Well," Adrian said evenly, "it doesn't matter which artificial source one uses, as long as it's demolishing the oil monopolies. We can put turbine plants in mining towns- if Stark doesn't get there first, that is. And if he does..."
He shrugged grudgingly.
"Better a bit of face lost on my end than war in another five years."

Dan had read up a little on Adrian's turbine project, it was classified but that had never stopped him before. The subject was something Dan had briefly touched on but got burned after he began his work on the anti gravity engine.
"If presented as a friendly competition I doubt any face would be lost" he looked down between his knee's before leaning forward on his elbows, chin in hands "Still haven't answered why the herpetologist is here."
He knew Connors and Adrian had been colleagues but was now aware of how.

"He's primarily a geneticist," said Adrian. "Herpetology is more of a pet interest."

Dan almost scoffed.
"Okay, so what is the geneticist doing here? Plan on giving Bubs a sister?"

"Nina is fond of him," said Adrian.

Dan didn't smile, he barely nodded, just enough to give Adrian an acknowledgement.
He wanted to ask about Megan, he wanted to confront him on why he'd kept her a secret. But he didn't think Adrian had done it on purpose, for all of his genius he could be absolutely absent minded when it came to things like that. He'd have to confront him about it sooner or later and if he didn't say anything he was sure Adrian would eventually.
Licking his lips he looked up in the sky as a few great northern loons flew by heading toward the shallow parts of the water to dive.

"You might as well ask why there's an ornithologist here," Adrian said pointedly.

"Mmm?" He finally fully turned to Adrian with a smile "That is the question isn't it, I feel like this whole trip is the set up for a scientist walks in to a bar joke."

"Concerned for your reputation?" Adrian said lightly.

Dan scoffed "My reputation remains strong, as long as nobody brings up the proposal to merge ornithology and herpetology it will remain that way."

"It's not a merge, more of a reclassifi- never mind, I don't want to start anything."
He reached into his pocket to produce a half-empty carton of cigarettes and a lighter, and lit one of them while holding the cigarette loosely between his lips.

"I know the situation" Dan replied shortly and eyed Adrian's cigarette but said nothing. He didn't care that Adrian smoked, he barely smelled it on him anymore. He knew that Adrian cared and that was enough of a concern for him.
After everything he was still concerned, of course he was. He knew he wasn't going anywhere, he never could know with Adrian, but he knew that no matter what his doubts were he was there to stay.
Dan un-clipped the bottle that was on his belt loop and took a long drink, offering some to Adrian.
