"What is it?" He laughed "What?"

"With a big - poof, you know," she said, resorting to onomatopeia and making a gesture with her hands to get across the kind of hairstyles that were so common on men - feathered, fluffy, and too frequently resembling a chicken. "I hope you stay old-fashioned." She said this coming up close and nudging his arm with her own arm fondly.

"Oh I don't think I could pull off any of what they do today anyway" he laughed "I don't have the face for it."

"What kind of face do you need?"

He paused "Good question, I guess I just don't see myself ever fully adapting to this time period."

Adrien laughed. "Me either."
Adrien had adapted better than Steve had, but she'd also been there nearly a year now, living with Adrian Veidt for most of it. (She wasn't entirely sure when she'd come over to the 80s, especially as everyone she knew seemed to have fallen through the cracks with her.) Since moving in with Steve she'd discovered MTV and modeled herself a little bit off Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" music video. With her hair growing out it had been a good look, and Adrien had always favored a lot of denim. But Adrien seemed less insecure than Steve. She had just discovered that at some point, it had become 1985 without her knowing it. He had been frozen and lost everyone he knew. Sometimes she fooled herself into thinking she was helping him, but at times like now, she realized she wasn't doing anything of the sort.

He shrugged "It'll get easier with time I think, right now it's all still very new. I thought after this time I'd have felt more comfortable, but ah well" he looked up at the sky with a smile and squeezed her hand.
He'd been having a lot of problems acclimating sure, but he was taking it in strides "Plus I have you here, I don't have to learn this all by myself."

She stood there in silence, trying to think of something comforting to say, her thoughts still in French, rubbing the back of his hand with her thumb.
"If you feel uncomfortable, you can talk to me about it," she offered, but it didn't come out like she wanted it to.

"I know I can" he leaned down and kissed her on the forehead and smiled.
He knew that part of the reason he was feeling this way was because less than a year ago, in his mind, he was fighting a war. He was making a difference, he was part of something. The Taskforce was suppose to be his way of fitting back in, but that has slowed down as the tower was being built. Ms. Wilde kept him informed, but it wasn't enough to just sit there day in and day out.
He thought about going back to school, but he knew that his heart wasn't in it anymore.
He also knew that he'd rather spend every day with Adrien than do any of that and it helped.

She touched his chest and stood on her toes, hightops squeaking, and kissed him on the mouth.

He returned the kiss with a small smile.
Adrien's kisses always felt so warm and her lips were like feathers against his.

She wrapped her arms tightly around his chest and held him snug.
"I know you know, but sometimes, you act as though you don't know," she said with the mildest affection scolding.

"Guess I'm still a little embarrassed" he sighed "it's always been a little difficult for me to ask for help, I'll get better I promise."

"Because you used to be small?" Adrien was surprised. "That made it easier for me."

"That's one way of putting it but yes" he laughed "the boys in my neighborhood didn't really like the opinionated kid who wheezed when he ran."
