For the first time in months Nicholas returned to London.
This time it was on Holiday.
He left Danny back at the station knowing full well it was in good hands. He regretted not being able to bring him, he knew Danny would have loved London.
Next time.
He stood with his hands in his pockets staring up at the prefecture and sighed, wondering if he should even bother with visiting.

((Sarah if you read this, it takes place during the time of their vacation. I figured John would leave early one day to grab coffee before Laszlo woke up thus this reply XD))
John struggled to keep the tray of coffee's still, he was moving quickly back toward the hotel where he'd hoped he'd find Laszlo still very much asleep. A surprise coffee to start the day.
But as he passed the metropolitan police department, he stopped.
Looking up at the building he smiled. He'd spent some time there in his youth, mostly for association, and held a great fondness for the men and women who'd worked there. He turned to see someone else staring up, but his smile was not of fondness. John blinked and shook his head "Sgt. Angel?"

Nicholas was pulled out of his daydream as voice beside him called his name.
He turned at attention, taking a moment to assess the man.
Approximately six foot tall, white male in his mid 30's, blond hair- prematurely grey, blue eyes.
He didn't smile even as the recognition set in "John Bristow if I'm not correct."

"Hmm? Oh no" he smiled a little awkwardly.
When he'd known John Bristow, he was a carpenters apprentice who couldn't seem to stop harboring criminals in his apartment.
"You still a carpenter?"

"No" he laughed "I run a shelter in Paris" he rebalanced the drinks "I'm here with my boyfriend on vacation, we recently got two large donations for the shelter which allowed me to hire on some help and take some time off."

Boyfriend.
"I must commend you then" he smiled "I'd hoped you'd turn your life around."

"Sgt. Angel you know full well that what I was doing was in no way against the law."

Nicholas raised his eyebrow and pursed his lips slightly "You were harboring criminals Mr. Bristow-"

"I was harboring people adversely affected by laws that should never been there in the first place" John's smile never faltered "the men and women I helped were no more than victims of a broken system. Surely you can understand that."

He inhaled. Even after the events of Sandford, even after he'd learned to switch off, Nicholas Angel was first and foremost a police officer.
"I can now" Nicholas replied finally.
Sgt. Angel had been in time flux with the rest of London before Sandford happened, stuck between what seemed to be the last 1800's and present day. He saw no difference and followed the laws of both times, when he was sent to Sandford it seemed to pull him out of the bubble of London and fling him directly in to present day. From the look of his clothes, John Bristow was still attempting to acclimate to the strangeness that was London.
"And you have to understand that I was doing my job then and hold no personal grudge against you or the crim- company you kept. The men I worked with were crooked and soon after you disappeared those men and those laws seemed to be wiped from history."
He looked back up at the police station "There are still some good ones left."

John smiled "Of course there are, the law was put in place to protect people, a few crooked cops aren't going to change that." He adjusted the drinks again "So if you aren't with the met anymore, what are you doing? If you don't mind me asking."
