Nina looked bemused, pained, and resigned, looking to him with a gentle expression, tapping her mouth, and taking a sip of coffee.

"A day of many humorous misunderstandings," Curt said, in such a tongue-in-cheek tone that it was plain enough to one who knew him that he was not remotely sorry. For some parts, anyway, the press aspects were still terrifying.

The moment he was out of immediate earshot, Curt put his hand up to his face, the picture of (fairly good-natured, at first) mortification.
"There will be disadvantages, I believe, to vacationing with the smartest man in the world and his beautiful daughter."
