*Bella sat on the bed in her small room, lost in thought. She hadn't been able to speak since she had seen Enjolras, and she hadn't been able to see Christian to try to convince herself that being with him was the right thing to do. It had been a very confusifyng week.*

*Enjolras knocked on the door quietly, hoping she was in there. He had asked one of the chorus girls where she lived and was hoping she could Galindafy take a walk in the park with him.* "Bella? Are you there?"

*Bella came out of her reverie sharply, getting quickly to her feet and cracking the door. She beamed when she saw Enjolras and opened the door wider to let him in.*

*He bowed playfully and smiled with her.*
"I came to invite you to walk in the Jardin des Tuileries with me this afternoon, if you're free."

*Her voice came pouring back when he smiled at her* I'd love to go.

*He grinned and offered his arm.* "Then shall we? Your chariot awaits, milady."

***************Years later.****************
*Belladonna slowly opened the door and coughed at the dust that flew up in the air. Yes, this was familiar. Turning back to her guide she paid him quickly and then nodded for him to go. Only slightly reluctantly he did so. She stepped inside and looked around, well it would do. Besides at least if she was at the Operahouse she could work and perhaps, perhaps she might remember something.*
"Well, time to make this place liveable again."
*Rolling up her sleeve she set to work, cleaning and tidying the room.*

*A letter arrived from Enjolras's solicitors.*
Madame la Comptesse-
In light of your recent memory loss, and your estranged husband's situation, it has been decided that your daughter, one Adrienne Marie d'Enjolras, aged four years, should live with her father, one Monsieur le Compte Gustave-Vincent d'Enjolras. You will have weekly optional visitation at your husband's place of residence.
Should you wish to formally end the marriage, please take the matter up with your husband or with us, his solicitors. Monsieur le compte shows no particular urge to go into divorce proceedings as of this time...
*The rest of it went on like this, impersonal and removed. Enjolras had figured she wouldn't want a personal letter. She didn't remember Adrienne, anyway.*

*Belladonna, once the room was clear settled down to read her letter. As she did, her faced paled. So, her daughter would stay with her father. Perhaps that was best given that she remembered nothing of her. Still, it would be wrong to completely ignore her existance, Bella was not the sort to do that. Besides she liked children. But the marriage, well it seemed he wished to have nothing more to do with her. She imagined it must have merely be socially acceptable, not for love. After a time, during which she may have cried, though she would admit that to no one she set down to write a reply.*
Monsieurs, This, in my present circumstance is acceptable to me. However, I would wish to not be entirely removed from my daughters life. Please do inform me whether I need to arrange visiting rights through you or directly with my husband. I am not certain.
Yours Faithfully
Madame Le Comptesse
The title seemed alien to her though she supposed it was more acceptable to them. Afterall, she could remember no other name.*

*This time, it was a letter written in Enjolras's own hand.*
Bella- (For he did not know how else to address her)
My solicitors inform me you are unsure of your rights with Adrienne. Should you wish to visit her, you have merely to notify me by post or by messenger, so that I can make sure she is at home. She has asked for you, and I am unsure of how to explain to her that you do not remember her or me. I do not wish to distress her, you understand, until she is old enough to understand your present circumstance. Adi is, however, a precocious child, and if explained properly, I am sure that she could come to understand your nonrecognition of her.
Yours, Enjolras

*Belladonna read the letter, smiling sadly.*
Dear Enjolras, Tell her what you need to. I shall do as you say.
Bella
She imagined the shorter she was, the better.*
