Full Name: Dr. Julia Hoffman
Fandom: Dark Shadows (tv series)
Age: A lady doesn't say, but in her late forties.
Build: Slight
Hair: Auburn
Eyes: Greyish
Nationality: American
Job: Psychologist and blood specialist.
Personality: Well meaning. All she wants is to save people, advance scientific knowledge, and cure a terrible disease, and if that requires murder and brainwashing...well, she'll feel very bad about it afterwards.
Life Story (as much as you want us to know): (Going from the end of the old!Barnabas arc, since that's where I'm at in the show. Some spoilers ahead.)
Julia didn't intend to make curing vampirism her life's work, but when you study the blood samples of enough bug-eating madmen and swooning amnesiac maidens, you draw your own conclusions. In her case, she ended up living with an extremely crotchety (if strangely seductive) vampire named Barnabas Collins, attempting to cure him through a series of blood transfusions. Their relationship was complicated- things kept almost happening, but then he'd get obsessed with another girl or do something so evil as to repel her. After her transfusions made him human at the expense of his youth and good looks, Barnabas called the whole thing off.
At this point, Julia realized that she'd given up everything (her friends, career, morality, and dignity) for someone who was a total jerk. She ran away and booked the next flight to Paris, hoping to continue her research with more cooperative vampires. Unfortunately, someone read the I Ching out loud on the plane, causing her to travel back in time. Fortunately, there were lots of vampires and people who hated them in Victorian France, and she immediately got a grant from the Ebauche-Adler Estate to fund her work.
