((Because this is the Sueniverse and screw everything, if we have GeneCo in 1986, we have email.))
My dearest Daniel,
I apologize for any awkwardness I might have caused you when you dropped by earlier. I haven't been able to be completely honest with the public quite yet regarding something that was brought to my attention shortly after New Year's, and I'm afraid it has pushed me to an unusual level of distraction and tension.
I myself have only known for a few months, but I am a father of two. Twins. They're twenty years old now, a boy and a girl. The boy, Johan, has been staying with me. I have been diverting a number of resources to locating his sister, but I haven't been able to find her yet.
Can you imagine? They have both drifted in and out of my life before I had any awareness they were mine. Do you remember the children of the East German ambassador who was murdered in 1976? They were mine, Dan, and I never knew it- nor when I awarded Nina a scholarship. I have a photograph of myself with my own daughter and we were completely unaware, both of us.
All of that aside, I don't want you to remain a stranger to me, Dan. I understand that I have likely insurmountably alienated your friendship, but should you ever desire to, you are always welcome here.
Yours sincerely, Adrian

Dan read the email, then read it again.
His first reaction was that of shock.
Adrian Veidt, a father of two full grown children? How did it happen without his knowledge? Who was the mother?
His second reaction was anger. Was this suppose to guilt him to feeling bad for saying the things he needed to? Was he suppose to sympathize?
His final reaction was to that of the last line of the email.
'You are always welcome here.'
Sadness, overwhelming sadness.
Even after everything, New Years, Adrien, Micaela, Adrian still wanted Dan to be in his life.
He leaned back in his chair and removed his glasses.
But did he want to be in Adrians life?
After a moment, Dan picked up the phone and dialed Adrians cell number.

"Veidt speaking."

There was a pause "Just got your email."

"Ah."
There was the continued sound of typing.
"Well?"

Dan made an audible sound, indicating the start of a thought, then another indicating the end of it.
Then simply said "Hell."

"I'm not seeking your pity, Dan-"

"It's not pity" Dan replied firmly "I honestly can not imagine."

"Yes, well. I'd invite you over immediately but I feel Johan will need to be prepared."

"Right" Dan nodded to no one in particular, and slowly replied "the mother-?"
