First day working with L---. I use 'working with' loosely; he does very little but answer my questions and watch me take what I need. He has developed quite the skill at keeping his face blank.
In his natural state, L---'s skin approximates to #385CB0 hexidecimally. His skin is of a curious opacity, lacking in the translucence possessed by human skin altogether, though it is of similar texture to the touch save a few raised symmetrical patterns concentrated primarily on his face. I understand that they extend over the rest of his body; however, I do not intend to ask him to undress. His trust is already tentative; I do not wish to endanger it or give him reason to feel... experimented upon.
I explained this to him at some length, that I am quite aware of what kinds of experimentation less ethical men than myself have subjected their fellow-men to in the past and that I have no intention of visiting such treatment upon him. L--- responded by smiling and pointing out that he is not my fellow-man; I allowed for that objection and conceded, but stated that it is still no reason for me to wish him harm.
L--- asked what would be enough to make me wish him to suffer. I ignored the question.

L--- permitted me to take blood samples. His blood is red in his camouflaged shape, black in his natural form (which shows his blue coloration is definitely pigmented). I will need to examine if they change on a cellular level between camouflage and default.
He says very little as I work, regardless of my attempts at conversation. There is a great deal about his physiology that I suppose will just have to remain a mystery, if I am to maintain any uneasy alliance with him.
I cannot tell if the bare side of his head is actually lacking in follicles or if the hair has simply fallen out. When I asked if he is capable of growing facial hair, he grimaced and said no. He does have brows, albeit narrow ones, and somewhat sparse lashes.
I think the physical examination has run its course. From this point on, I will be attempting a more psychological study. Such an opportunity rarely presents itself.
