Christian gazed after her with tear-filled eyes, wondering just what she'd meant by her words. He stared wordlessly at his hands and then closed the door to his room, thinking that maybe Sydney would want some time to herself before he went to chase after her.
"You were never mine to lose."

***A NEW DAY***
Evelyn wandered the great halls of the opera house, unwilling to admit she was lost and ask for directions. She fingered the scrap of paper that she clutched in her hand.
"Should be right around here..." the girl muttered. When she came across a door that bore the number written on the paper, she knocked briskly, smoothing her clothes to look more presentable.

Sydney's head snapped towards the direction of the door. She was definitely not expecting anyone at 11 P.M.
With her case file and graphic autopsy photos still scattered all over her desk, she unholstered her pistol and slowly moved towards the door.
"Who's there?" she said, keeping her gun in a low and ready position.

Evelyn cleared her throat a few times before replying.
"My name is Evelyn. I'm part of the--no, wait. I don't think it's exactly wise to say this aloud for everyone to accidentally overhear. Would you mind if I came in, Miss--" The girl looked down at the slip. "--Bristow?"
She bit her lip nervously. She wondered just why it was taking such an extended amount of time for the woman to open the door.

((She's a part of an on-going murder investigation that was blown WIDE OPEN by an annoying reporter by the name of Freddy Lounds. She BETTER be OCD about opening doors! XD))
Sydney furrowed her brow and opened the door just a crack. "Are you with the Company?" she asked, hiding her gun behind her back.

((*pounces*))
Evelyn pursed her lips and furrowed her brow.
"'The Company'?" she repeated. "Oh! Yes--yes, I am."

*After a few moments of hesitation, she opened the door wider and stepped aside, letting her in.* "Sorry for the wait...can't ever be too careful," *Sydney said, holstering her weapon.*
"You're a new recruit," *She said knowingly.* "How long has it been?"

Evelyn slowly entered the room, examining the papers and photos strewn over the desk. She turned back to Sydney and nodded.
"Well, it's been a few months. A lot of processing paperwork and not much else. Speaking of paperwork, here's what they instructed me to give you." The girl pulled out a thin bundle of papers from inside her coat and handed it gingerly to Sydney.

*Sydney took the papers and quickly read them.* "Chase sent you to me? For training?" *She looked up.* "You're not trained at all?" *Sydney flipped the pages again. There was a personal note in Chase's handwriting entrusting this new recruit to her.*
*She pulled up a chair and gestured for her to sit down.* "Did they debrief you on why you were recruited?"

Evelyn gratefully seated herself and shook her head lightly.
"Not exactly. My cousin also works for the CIA and she told them that I’d be an invaluable addition, but never explained to me why. Personally, I'm afraid I don't see anything in myself that could assist you guys."

*Sydney looked at the psychological analysis page of the packet.* "It says here that you have an IQ of over 160," *she looked up at her and smiled.* "No doubt you excelled in your studies." *She looked back down and read from the file:* "Eidetic memory and quick, objectice responses to very stressful situations. Very impressive... and, according to this, you have--and I quote--'reflexes of noteable speed'."
*Sydney looked up and studied her for a moment.* "How many languages do you speak?"

"Three," Evelyn quickly answered. "English, Korean, and some Spanish."
Upon seeing the rather dismayed look on Sydney's face, she frowned.
"Is that bad?"

"How fluent are you in all three?" She asked immediately.

"Extremely, I should think. My Spanish is not without its flaws but it can pass," Evelyn answered.

Sydney smiled. "My Korean's rusty so, maybe you'll help me get it back into shape later," she said kindly.
"How much weapons training have you had?"
