Shit, that black Harley could really take a beating, couldn't it? And so could she -- the collision had jolted her bone-rattlingly hard, and for a second, she was definitely airborne, but she'd held on tight and they were on the ground now, her and the bike, and at least as far as she could tell, in one piece. The wreckage of the wall behind her was smoking, and there was a char mark a few feet long and about a foot across. From her? No, couldn't be. And there were bricks, and shit, she'd busted through something, hadn't she? Straight into a road barrier, or a bridge. Well, fuck.
She'd bit clean through her own lips. Occupational hazard. A little blood trickled down her knuckles, too but they were patching themselves up just as fast. Baby Jenks scrambled to get out from underneath the hot metal of the Harley's side, snapping the cord of her headphones in the process, and spat blood. More as a perfunctory thing than anything.
Tires needed fixing, though. Davis would know what to do about that. Except he didn't. He couldn't. She was in a basement. How did one crash a motorcycle into a goddamn basement?

Daniel had been exploring the odd far-off corners of this weird underground labyrinth, finding random traps (and trap-doors), secret doors, false walls, and passages that led up into and through the opera house, to almost every level and angle. He'd even found a highway of sorts that led from the cellars all the way up to the attic, ending at a trap door in the back of a roof statue.
He was on his way back to the house on the lake, to see if the wolfman was still there and if he'd done anything while he was gone, when the tremendous crash and subsequent damage reverberated around the large open space. He stared disbelievingly at the sight before him.
"And how, exactly, did you manage to crash a motorcycle into a basement?"

Her braids bounced as she whirled around to face the intruder. Well, she was the intruder, but it was the same thing.
"The hell do you care?"

He shrugged.
"I don't really care. I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of it."
He tilted his head to one side. Oh. Another one.
"Though I can see how you survived."

She didn't have to squint to see in the dark, with her new eyes, but she did anyway, sizing the guy up. Just what she needed, another Dead guy -- truth be told, after riding alone for so long, it was a bit of a relief. He didn't look like anybody she knew, but he didn't look like a freak, either. Baby Jenks pulled her shoulders back and drew up to her full height.
"This ain't your basement, though, is it? It wasn't on purpose--"

"No, it's not. I'm not really sure who owns this place, to be honest."
Glancing at the motorcycle again, he said:
"But I can tell you you're very far from wherever you were, now."

Her eyes widened in confusion, and for a few moments she did look like a child again.
"I don't--"

"You're in Paris."
Another a-bit-too-young-for-this turned into a vampire. There seemed to be a steadily growing number of those. It could almost be annoying if they didn't always turn out so interesting.

Immediately her demeanor went flat.
"Not Paris, Missouri, I presume."

"Afraid not. 'tis France. I can even show you, if you don't believe me."
He was getting a sense about her, a sense he only got from certain other vampires, not all. Was she of his breed?

"You're shitting me. Show me that map."
It was a fucking basement first and foremost, there were basements all over the country.

"Map? No, I'll show you the Eiffel Tower." He said, and gestured to a doorway behind him.
"It's a bit of a climb to the roof, but worth it for the view."

Baby Jenks looked at him askance, rearranging her headphones around her neck like a collar, and shrugged.
"Go ahead and show me. Which way's up from here?"

"This way...keep close, though. This area down here is like a maze." He said, turning to lead the way.

She followed not too closely, still a little leery. Shouldn't Dead guys in Paris be... French? Or at least more colorful and stuck-up.
