Crowley squeezed him and said, "I'm sorry." He really wasn't sure what else to say. All he wanted to do was sleep so he could forget that this ever happened, really.

Adrien bent his head into the pillow and moaned.
"And he was right, in the end, wasn't he. No angels came swooping in to stop any of us - him, Manhattan... the people who were gonna blow the shit out of us all... if you had to choose, Crowley, what would you pick? Six billion or a few thousand, huh?"

No one was going to blow anything up, he thought. The angels would have heard about it and so would I.
He couldn't say that, though, so he kissed Adrien on the top of his head. "It shouldn't be something you have to consider," he said.

He didn't appear to have heard, though he felt the kiss and pressed into Crowley needily.
"...he'd killed everyone. Everyone at Karnak- in- in- his vivarium. He had called them in for a New Years' toast. And when I went there they were dead. I saw a human f....human bodies, covered in the snow." He shook badly and clung to Crowley, continuing in a whisper. "And I found a gun and I brought it back. I was gonna do it! I was gonna kill him, Crowley! And then I...." His eyes swam with tears. His voice was uneven and thick when he next spoke. "I chose the thousands. I didn't shoot him at all. I couldn't, I- I chose all those people's deaths over his. Christ! I'm as much a monster a- as any, as anybody-"

Crowley squeezed his eyes more tightly shut.
"You did what you thought was right," he said.
You didn't know. It wasn't his right, but it wasn't your fault, he thought.

Adrien sobbed for a long time.

Crowley held him and kept his grip tight, not knowing what else to do.

After a while Adrien clung to him and kissed him, passionately but not ferociously, a weak desperate impartation of kisses because Crowley was at the moment the one solid thing in the world, the one secure thing.

Crowley kissed him back and he wished he'd left his sunglasses on so he could open his eyes, dammit. He felt like he was leaving Adrien alone in the dark.

A fire ignited, with Adrien fiercely trying to use its blaze to burn out what was left of these cold memories, Adrien bit his lip and kissed him hard and moved to pull him on top of him.

Crowley kissed him back much more softly but resisted his pull.
"I can't right now. I'm sorry," he said.

Adrien caught his breath.
"....it's okay. I understand." He kissed him back gently.

He pulled him closer to him again, though.

Adrien tried to relax against him, lying against his chest, listening to his breathing and feeling the heft from each intake. He rubbed his shoulder gently, cuddling closer.

Crowley closed his eyes and let himself drift off. He was pretty used to clearing his head so he could sleep after millenia of practice, so it wasn't hard.
