Tybalt's eyes just grew wider and wider, though this was not the freaked-out and animal-in-a-trap response he had had to the robot.

"Through science Doom has grasped at the world. Through sorcery, Doom shall possess it. Both are viewed with fear by the weak-minded, both are more than natural -- but only a fool would ignore their tremendous influence on the workings of this world and the next. You are no fool, Tybalt, but you are reluctant to put credence in that which you have never seen, is that so?"
Doom was really on a roll here.

It was honestly that Tybalt never thought about anything he hadn't seen, and passively accepted what he was told, particularly if there was visual evidence.
"- the next?"
That phrase alone drew more dread from Tybalt than any of Doom's revelations about magic and sorcery.

"What of it? Doom has seen too much of Hell to trouble with matters of doctrine."

Tybalt looked suddenly so very distressed and dead-eyed it was hard not to pity him.
"So there is a hell after all."

"For the likes of you? It is doubtful, do not trouble yourself with the thought."
(Victor suddenly remembered what he had seen of the alleyway encounter. Tybalt's distress at that thought, even as a less than observant Roman Catholic, was understandable.)

"....and... you have seen it?"

Doom turned away, a tide of dark memory spilling over his own thoughts. It still crept up on him, even when he thought on other things--
"Simply put, yes."

He visibly shivered.

"Have you no care for Heaven, then? For power on earth, unfathomable power? Far-seeing, flight, fire, protection, illusion--"
Doom returned to his previous vigor with a vengeance.

"I had thought there was... nothingness after life. I had thought... nevermind. It was one of my few comforts. I should have learned before now that there are no comforts."

"Perhaps that is so. I have never concerned myself with such matters," he said, rather stiffly. "This does not concern us at present."
Crossing the room, Doom found another, unmarred target -- beginning with a gesture to draw up a ball of energy in his right hand, a pale blue fire.

Tybalt stared.

There was scarcely a moment to see the fire leap from his hand, and whether any actual contact with his fist was made it was hard to tell -- but the noise of a concussive impact, and the incineration of the target, were unmistakable. (Doom's own ears were ringing a little, as he stepped back in satisfaction, despite how heavily warded his armor was.)

There was an actual wretched gasp from Tybalt and he staggered back - by only a footstep, but still.
