"Latveria is a place of religious freedoms, so long as a certain order is maintained. You are free to observe however you wish, or not at all."

Tybalt was so visibly relieved by this that he looked wearied. "Ah. I won't be going, then."

That was definitely promising.
"Good. You do not strike me as a superstitious man, Tybalt."

"I'm not," he said flatly. "That would require an imagination."
He was very fastidious about holding the gun, but now he carefully imitated what he had seen Doom do, and shot at the wall. His eyes actually widened, and he peered at it.

Doom couldn't help but laugh, seeing the earnest change in Tybalt's expression. It was a low, amused rumble, amplified by the armor.
"Guns are not so... satisfying as other methods, but they have their appeal, do they not?"

"...I am fearful of what damage I could do with one of these."
God Tybalt shut up, you typically have a fucking FLAIL clipped to your belt!

Doom leaned in behind him, reaching around to adjust the angle at which he pointed his arm.
"You are learning quickly, though."

Tybalt was thankful for the armor that kept the reality of Doom as a hot-blooded, breathing man far from his mind, though not as far as it needed to be.
"Thank you, my lord."
He aimed again at the wall and pulled the trigger.
"I am doing this correctly?"

Doom shifted gravely, scrutinizing his aim.
"Quite well, for a beginner."

After a while of this Tybalt ventured, "Is there much superstition in Latveria?"

He paused, considering his response.
"The Latverian people are not blind to the old ways, and to things beyond lesser reckoning. It is not superstition if one knows such things to be true," Doom said, somewhat defensively.

"Like what?" asked Tybalt, suddenly on guard and tense.

"You hold belief in a Hell, do you not?"

"I don't know."

"My mother was a... witch, though not in the sense that you may know of the word." Italian was so limited for these purposes, worse than English. He repeated the word again -- the word she had used for herself -- in the language of their family, and it sounded far more correct. Still, he proceeded with patience. "She used magic to protect our people, and to lay men low. I use magic such as I have studied, to my own ends. It would be foolish to say I did not believe in magic, as if belief were necessary for the science of medicine, or music."
