After the odd conversation with Jesse at the opera house, Isa felt it was her duty to come and see one of her only friends.
It had been a while and she felt bad that she hadn't been around, but all things considered, she was lucky to even get the afternoon off.
Knocking she adjusted the present she brought for the baby in her arm.

Diana answered the door with the baby in her arms.
"Isa!" she said with a bright smile. "It's been ages. Come on in. I tried to clean up a bit but try not the mind the mess."

"You should see my place" she grinned.
She wasn't lying, her little cottage had turned in to a library of odds and ends she never had time to clean up.

"How have you been holding up in the infirmary?"

"It's pretty insane" she laughed "without you there I had to learn your filing system, I assure you I cursed your name a few times."

Diana smiled as she bounced a little bit and stroked her child's back. "I really sorry I couldn't find anyone to fill my spot in time. There seems to be a big shortage of qualified people around... as usual. But I do plan on coming back in a week or so."

"Don't come back if you aren't ready" she warned and sat the present down on a nearby table.

"Oh, I think I am," she said hopefully. "It's just that I've got to find someone to take care of little Michael here."

"Speaking of, let me see that little man" she reached out and gently removed the boy from his mothers arms, cooing as she did so.

Diana smiled but couldn't really hide the sadness that she suddenly felt.
"I'm so very lonely, Isa," she said quietly, her eyes welling up with tears.
Her candor was a surprise even to her. There weren't many opportunities to talk and seeing her friend made it all come spilling out.
Embarrassed, she quickly wiped her eyes and composed herself. "I'm sorry. I don't know what's come over me," he said, trying to laugh it off. It was all rather sad and pathetic.

Isa raised her eyebrow and rocked the baby softly "Diana, what's been going on with you and Jesse?"
