((Angst fiesta up in here. Maya and Zevran, feel free to fuss over her. After someone finds her she's going to faint and have a fever. I figure someone can have basic first aid training and at least sit there and sponge her or something and they'll stay in camp for a few days until she's cured? If nobody wants to post, this functions as establishing that it's happened.))
She no longer had the nightmare-visions with such frequency, the Archdemon being dead and there being no masses of darkspawn in the area, but somehow it only made her dream more. Sometimes the dreams were pleasant (the ones about her childhood), but more often bittersweet (Alistair) and more than that, terrifying. Despite not being mentally connected to any as of the moment, she almost always dreamed of darkspawn.
Tonight's was especially awful--she was defenseless against low-level spawn that would have given her little trouble armed in the real world. Blades skewered her abdomen, hacking and stabbing until her own cries woke her up.
To her terror, when she looked down, breathing heavily, there was blood blossoming across her shift. Uncomprehending, she screamed. When she realized what was happening, she made a strangled noise that was somehow worse. She hadn't even known she was--
The pain had returned and she cried out again.

((I figure they're somewhere between their spot in the other thread and Highever.))
Maya had been dreaming, but her dream had been of an indistinct, far-away thing--a battle with unidentifiable monsters in a vague landscape, and her surrounded by party members: not just Ailwen and Zevran, but others, people she'd never seen before in her life but felt that she knew nonetheless. She strained hard in the dream, trying to determine where or when this was happening, when a piercing scream cut through the fog and she awoke.
Maya stared up at the roof of the tent, momentarily unable to remember where she was or how she got there. Then, the trip along the road past Denerim flashed through her mind, and it all came back to her. But...someone was screaming...? She sat up fast, bursting out of her tent, freed-for-sleep hair streaming over her shoulders as she frantically scanned the camp.
"Ailwen?!"

Her breath came in uneven bursts, as if it hurt to inhale. She took a painful breath, hissing as she went, and clutched her abdomen. Again the strangled noise as she doubled over, oblivious to the world outside of her own body. She clenched, curled in on herself.

Maya ran over to her new friend, and then froze in her tracks at the sight of blood and pain.
"Oh, Maker!" She cried.
But she couldn't think straight, she didn't know what to do--she was neither a healer nor a mage that used those kinds of spells. She knew a little about herbs, but anything she could whip up would take a while--
"Zevran!" She cried, heading toward the only thing she could think of.
"Help!"

Ailwen was vaguely aware of another person, and with surprising speed she reached out and grabbed for a hand. Darkness ebbed at her consciousness and her grip faded as she fell backwards, out cold.
Her cheeks were flushed and her skin would be hot to the touch.

Maya was stopped in her tracks by the firm grip, and rather than try to pull away instead continued to shout. Ailwen's now paler-than-normal complexion was alarming, and the mage now feared that the Gray Warden was slipping away too quickly.

"Alistair--"
It was the only discernible word among the small cries and moans, borne of fever-dreams.
She saw the King, the love of her life, but he would not answer her--then his form changed and he became an Archdemon, but instead of dark and red he was golden and shining... She saw the child he had fathered, Morrigan's but as golden as the father, though she knew the babe would not even be born by now... how odd, that she and Morrigan had been pregnant at the same time, by the same man. If only for a little while.

"Zev-RAN!" Maya screamed, her voice high-pitched from near hysteria.
She did not how to take care of this, not in the least.
"Ohhhh Maker..."
Unbeknownst to her, Maya's hands had started to subtly glow blue.

((woops, really should've checked the board for this . Can I go ahead and guess that Ailwen is having a miscarriage?)) Zevran raced back into the camp, carried by fear and a deep sense of urgency. His breath came in short bursts as he dashed through the tree's towards the cries of the two women. He had also been plagued by dreams that night; indescribable scenes of blood and gore, bones cracking and cries cutting off into blood choked gurgles, wide eyes asking for the pain to stop, and ever shifting people, the faces of each of his past targets blending together into one. He had forced himself awake and to wander the night in order to clear his head. Damnit! DAMNIT! He was supposed to be there to protect her, not get caught up in his own problems! Damnit! He berated himself as he came into view of Ailwen's tent and rushed inside without slowing. He saw the blood and without thinking he tore open her sift to get to the origin of the blood and what he saw drained his face of all color. He tried to force words past his lips to the mage next to him. "She's-" He cut off as he tried to swallow the lump in his throat. Failing, he ran out to were he kept his small collection of herbs. He wasn't a healer by any means, but he kept a few poultices and potions around for when he new he would need them. He returned to Ailwens side and gently lifted her head into his lap, calmer now that he had something to do. He softly tried to coax her into drinking the potion, speaking quickly to Maya as he did so. "This will help dull her pain, but it won't stop... It wont help what's causing it." Turning his head to her fully, he continued in a grim tone, "You probably wouldn't know anything of the healing arts, would you?"

Maya tried to pull herself together when Zevran arrived, if for nothing else than Ailwen's sake. The other woman didn't need one of her fellow travelers breaking down on her when she needed the most help.
At Zevran's question, Maya felt the color rise up in her cheeks.
"N-not really." She stammered. "I mostly focused on the more damaging arts."

Damnit, Zevran cursed again in his head. Shaking his head he turned back to Ailwen, "Then right now there is not much we can do, but let... let it pass," Zevran cringed slightly. He then calmly (as much for his sake as for hers) instructed Maya to heat some water so they could soak some cloth to lay on her stomach to help with the pain while he repositioned Ailwen on the ground and tried to feed her more of the pain killer.
All it really would do is give them something to do, but at that point it was better than sitting around doing nothing.

Biting her lip and nodding, Maya dashed outside, wanting to feel useful in some way, even a minor one.

The dreams kept coming back--vivid fever-dreams, with Alistair and Morrigan and Morrigan's child and Ailwen's child, the child that was never going to be... no darkspawn, though. It was almost a reprieve from the dreams she normally had.
Eventually, though, they went away. Faded off into the ether, and Ailwen began to awaken. The first thing she noticed was how much she hurt, everywhere, but especially--
She had been with child. A child that should not have even been able to take root and grow, and a child that she never could have carried to term, but a child nonetheless. Her heart twisted up inside but she tried to sit up and face the world rather than curl in and cry about it. It was done. There was nothing she could do.
((IDK who's in the tent with her or whatever, so feel free to take liberties!))

((Yay liberties!!!))
Zevran laid a soft hand on Ailwen's shoulder pushing her back down with an uncharacteristically soft voice as he told her not to push herself. He had a small pillow in his lap that she had been laying on. He wasn't all that good at 'comforting' and the only experience he had in the matter involved a lot of touching but he didn't think that was really appropriate at the moment. So he let her lay on his lap instead.
It had been a long and stressful night as Ailwen fought her way through the miscarriage. Zevran knew that if things had taken a turn for the worse there would be nothing that either he or Maya could do about it. And so he had waited, and fretted, and combed her hair out of her sweat soaked face. When it was over he wrapped the poor thing in his blanket (he didn't really use it anyway) and set to burying it over by the largest tree he could find nearby, before coming back and waiting. He hated waiting.
Even so he didn't want to be the one to bring up the subject, so he stayed quiet while idly running his fingers through her hair, thinking.

For the moment she was incredibly grateful he was bossing her around, even though normally she wouldn't stand for it. She reached up and grabbed his hand and squeezed.
"You're not getting rid of me," she muttered. "you; the Crows; a dragon; a whole horde of Darkspawn... no way a fever's going to get me."
