HOKAY SO.
Ailwen finished miscarrying and they appear to be showing up in Lorien now. The way I see it, they need to find civilization and be like "ANDRASTE'S BALLS WHAT IS GOING ON." And then they hear reports of horrible tainted monsters attacking in places, growing bolder and more numerous and Ailwen's like SHIT BALLS.
Also she will be mad as hell that Lorien is being ruled by humans because she is an Elf (if not the same kind of Elf at all; she probs looks like a little shrimp to them) and they have this kingdom and WHY ARE THERE HUMANS IN CHARGE AILWEN RAGE so that can be part of it all
EDIT: looking back at Sarah's convenient wonderful summary post, I figure they will start seeing signs of a Blight after they arrive properly and after the existing authorities realize that something is wrong that they cannot fix (and that Ailwen can). Ailwen is like BALLS and runs back to Thedas, presumably with some people from Lorien as well, and retrieves some Wardens and soldiers and also Alistair because he's like WE FACED THE ARCHDEMON LET ME HELP YOU HONOR AHH

Double-posting like a baaaawss
So.
Jenn and I have a theory/idea that Thedas (Thedosian?) Elves were originally Middle Earth Elves (and all the mythology that goes along with them). For the purposes of the story, I thought it would be cool if Middle Earth and Thedas were connected once, magically, loooong ago and that's how Elves wound up in Thedas, and then idk evolved smaller or something after the connection broke. This is so long ago and after so much deterioration of Elven culture in Thedas that none of this is really remembered. And of course as a result of wibbly wobbly timey wimey magic etc, their timelines progressed at different rates.
And now they're for some reason connected again. Because we as writers say so. Or maybe only connected for certain people. We could develop this theory further--I'm way open to ideas. But I figure it explains why this bridge of sorts is opening back up again, other than just because we say so.
It also means that Thedosian Elvish is kind of a bastardized Sindarin. Obviously in-canon this isn't so (BioWare came up with its own Elvish), but I thought it'd be kind of awesome if it was. The sounds are similar, as well. As far as gameplay repercussions of this, certain phrases got passed down, greetings, farewells, titles. Without any real context or meaning. Songs would have come down, too, in their entirety but with the Elves, especially non-Dalish, not knowing what all the words mean. Depending on the elf in question (Fenris probably doesn't know any; Ailwen having grown up free in an Alienage knows some; a Dalish elf would know a lot), of course.
If you guys are not OK with this just let me know, and I can go back and edit any posts it might affect (right now, just the one greeting phrase Ailwen uses in Venturing Forth with Amala). But I think it's an interesting way to link the cultures, forming a connection between the two worlds that makes all this make some kind of weird sense.

^^This is cool. Go for it (late, yes).
Okay! We can get this thing moving again! So, currently the party is setting up dinner, and where we left off was that Amras was going to explain to the Thedosians about their current destination, Paris.
Amala is heading there to get some information as well as talk to her contacts, but the other reason was that the party would end up picking up more members...Skaz characters.
Except I forgot which ones. Er, SKAZ HALP. xD

I still have the Queen and Princess of Lorien, respectively a scheming magnificent bitch and an awkward kid who keeps getting shuffled between one arranged fiancee and another.
One idea I had was for a War of the Roses-type resolution, getting Princess Eva married off to an Elf. Don't know if there are any eligible bachelor Elves around, though.

I know that Ailwen, having grown up a third-class citizen in a society shaped by humans taking over Elven civilization, will absolutely not stand for human rule over Lorien if she's to help save them from the Blight (and she is the only living being other than Alistair who can). She's no stranger to political upheaval, especially surrounding a Blight. At some point Ailwen will be coming to court to say "hey you've got a massive invasion from another dimension on your hands and you literally cannot fight it without me;" she sort of plays it fast and loose with the fact that her order (the Grey Wardens) aren't supposed to interfere with political matters.
I'd be willing to bring in an Elf dude for that purpose. Ailwen would be more than willing to champion her rule as they fight the Blight if Eva expressed interest in protecting Elven interests and also if she married an Elf.

Sounds good to me. She's a nice girl, and has grown up all her life around Elves- and it would be good to give her something to do other than repeatedly try and fail to rebel against her parents.

Oooo, that sounds awesome. I say go for it, it'll add a new dimension to things.

*revives*
Okay! Since the old idea fell apart, but there's been some interest expressed in a fantasy plot, I thought we could use this thread to re-tool old ideas and come up with new ones.
My first question would be on where to start, and what characters we want to be in it. I'd like to keep both Maya and Amala, and while he's not mine also Alistair.

I'm in! Fantasy-wise, I'll be bringing in Sir Ystin (Arthurian knight made out of pure pureness, flying horse, crazy determined, seemingly immortal, cusses people out in Welsh -- I'm not sure if I'll play him with recent canon events considered, but I'm pretty sure an immortal time-traveling Welsh vampire knight would not be the most unnecessarily complex thing to happen to the 'verse. His canon is definitely inspired by Epic Quests/D&D campaigns, just by way of ragtag-band-of-misfits, and he'll be a pretty solid ally to any semi-good-seeming force. And he's Grail-questing and already displaced in time, so I guess he could meet with the group pretty much whenever? His original timeline has everybody meet in an inn, because it's trope-alicious that way.)
I've still got the requisite Cantarella characters, but I haven't picked that manga up in an age. And I'm 100% down for bringing in some original elf!Sues.

As in how to start this we could still go along with the fantasy worlds colliding thing.
Alistair will still very much be pining over his warden and as the king of one of those fantasy lands (although a really bad king, I mean he's good at the work but god he hates it).
I of course also have Amras the broody, tall gay elf with a penchant for being annoyed constantly and chronicling everything. He's really looking just to chill out, write his books and be left alone. But people are always calling him for adventures, he's like a long lost Baggins.

Broody elvesssssss.
I could bring on my Skyrim character but she's like, idk, whatever the high fantasy version of a Fishmalk is. (I'm also really tempted to bring in The White Queen's version of Margaret Beaufort, which would make exactly as much sense as the rest of my character choices.)

I would make a somebody but i'm really only superficially familiar with high fantasy tropes so idk what is most appropriate. i also have a lot to do in the regular 80s plot so i should keep it down to one character or something anyway. Ska mentioned Anne Rice vompires in the chat wrt his character Ystin and some of those are pretty high fantasy, like Pandora in particular, but idk what she would do beyond follow everybody around and occasionally prove useful because Anne Rice vampires are annoying game-breakers, especially if they're old ones like she is.

Aww, man, I would love if you joined it. I don't think I've had character interactions with you in a long time and I miss it. :3
High fantasy is fairly overpowered to begin with--characters can get pretty crazy up there in their abilities, so something like a vampire wouldn't really be out of place (although in Thedas, the setting we're using, doesn't have them. So any vamp char would be one of a kind). Interestingly, Lord of the Rings ISN'T high fantasy as the characters are all fairly mortal and get by more with muscle and wit than crazy powers (Gandalf being an exception, but he's a whole other kettle of fish anyway). High Fantasy would be like Dungeons and Dragons, though I don't know if you've played that. Conan is Sword & Sorcery, which is closer to High Fantasy than LOTR is. I'd say a character doesn't have to be High Fantasy but just fantasy (so, Urban Fantasy like Supernatural or Dresden Files is cool).
Clash of the Titans is High Fantasy, if that helps (though HF is typically middle ages Europe-like in nature, not so much ancient Rome).
I hope that made sense. :3
