"I don't know where to go..." *said the girl softly.*

*She thought quickly--it had to be a place that would be friendly to a girl that was essentially destitute and had appeared out of nowhere. But where...
A small smile appeared on her lips*
"There is a very good inn called Le Rouge L'Epine. There are very good people there and the proprietess will be sympathetic, Erika thinks."

"Thank you...thank you..." *the girl threw all caution to the wind and threw her arms around Erika in a hug.* "May your God bless you," *she said with a slight smile as she slipped out of the room to go find this inn.*

*The hug was completely unexpected, but Erika found herself unconsciously returning it. And just as soon, the girl was gone.
Erika stood for a moment, watching the open doorway that the girl had left through. Nobody had hugged her before, and that small contact made her almost giddy. That the girl had done so of her own free will...
Feeling a small pang, Erika exited through the door, closing it behind her before disappearing back into the opera house.*

*Erik gazed about the room. They'd been here. He'd tracked them this far; by the skillful way they'd avoided and sprung his traps, he suspected his doppelganger's involvement. But was she still here?*

*NEW DAY*
Ethan wandered into the empty dressing room, playing with the various cloths and silks draped over tables and strewn haplessly across the floor. Jewels winked lustfully at him from every nook and cranny, but he wasn't particularly allured to them at the moment.
((Tag Castiel.))

Theatres... they always managed to make Castiel sad.
Of course, most things made the angel rather sad nowadays. Doubt... for the first time he felt doubt. It wasn't an emotion angels should be susceptible to, if angels were supposed to have emotions at all.
Still, these places... it just showed how painfully aware humans were of their own shortcomings. It was as if they knew they weren't worthy of being the priviliged beings in Creation and just tried to cover it up by pretending to be something or someone else... so sad.
"They won't change anything, you know."

Ethan's heart palpated slightly, the boy having been unaware of another presence in the room, but otherwise, he showed no other signs of surprise. "What's that?" he asked, trailing one finger across the dusty wood of a nearby table and smearing the gray fuzz across its surface.

"The costumes, Ethan. They don't change anything."
Castiel cast another gaze around the room, looking sad and tired as always. So many futile attempts at escape...
Humans just couldn't deal with reality, it was unfair to let them exist.

The boy's eyes widened in his shock, and his hand came to a standstill. But still, he did not turn. "How do you...know my name?" he slowly inquired.

"I know a lot of things, Ethan Noel Scott... and no amount of illusions will change that."
Sad, sad humans and their escapism.
"My name is Castiel. I am an angel of the Lord."

An angel of the Lord. Impulsively deciding that they would see about that, Ethan could hardly suppress a scoff. "I've seen some things in my time, sir, but never one who claimed to be an angel," he responded. "I believe that life is merely a series of illusions played one after the next."

Sad. Ever so sad.
"The illusions are only there because you humans insist on maintaining them... but I fear my nature is not one of them. Therefore allow me to show you that the end of your life shall be very real indeed."

Ethan sneered and withdrew his hand from the table's surface to silently push up the blue sleeves of his shirt. The cloth grazed gently against his skin, bunching at his elbows, and the boy clenched and unclenched his hands several times to stretch out his muscles. It wouldn't do to pull them and potentially humiliate himself in the midst of a performance. The effect of it would be so degrading.
"As real as this...Sir Castiel?"
He wheeled about and slashed his arm through the air, sending multiple knives careening straight for the angel.

Something resembling a smile appeared on Castiel's face as the knives stopped harmlessly in mid-air. He then shook his head.
"No... no, my dear Ethan. I fear my reality is a lot more severe than your party tricks. But thank you."
The angel plucked one of the knives out of the air and advanced on Ethan with all the calmth and purpose of someone aware that he was the inevitable.
