The policer only blinked a bit, confused, and touched Lee's arm before turning to limp into the hall and off to his study, ignoring his growling stomach and sitting himself into the couch, pulling the little leather case over to expose the syringe and vials. There weren't many left now, perhaps another month's worth before he had to visit a doctor for more. He rather hated doctors.
His pain wasn't extreme today, so he only loaded a half-dose, rolling up his sleeve and pulling his bracers off his shoulders before relaxing back into the cushions and injecting himself.

Lee retreated to the kitchen, deflated and de-robing down to the bottom-most layer of his robes. He prepared a couple sandwiches for Jason, and a couple bowls of soup, too tired himself to really eat. He brought it all into the study on a tray with tea, setting it in front of Jason with a disheartened sigh.
"The needle again?" he muttered, sinking into the couch next to his lover. "Here..." He prepared a cup of tea for Jason and held it up, trying to resume life as usual while he could.

"A half." he muttered back and leaned forward to take the cup, sipping it, half-lidded.
"I think I shall retire soon. A pickpocket escaped me today. A bloody little ponce in a bright yellow vest and a ridiculous hat." he sighed and took a sandwich from the tray, sitting back with it and chewing thoughtfully. "What project have you?"

"Oh..." Lee frowned and sipped at his own tea, trying to think quickly - if he were gone for days this time, he'd need a better excuse than working late - though he wondered if Jason would notice. Closing his eyes, Lee sighed. "It's just a daunting task..." he muttered, fingering the edge of his cup nervously. "Really, I wish I could just leave it behind and stay here with you," he said sadly, putting his hands - cup still in them - in his lap.

"You could close it up, the shop. My pension will be sufficient to support us both, you know."
He finished his first sandwich and cup of tea, leaving the soup (he always seemed to prefer soup warm rather than hot) and second sandwich for a bit later, sinking back into the sofa again as his drug took effect, causing him to emit a pleasant, light rumble.

Lee set his cup down and climbed into Jason's lap, straddling his thighs with a small hiss of pain. He curled his arms around the younger man's neck and kissed his nose, settling against him with a whimper.
"Is that what you'd prefer, Jason? That I stay home as your... housewife?" It was not a question of accusation - with staying in the Spirit World, perhaps living out his days in a quiet little house would be better. Of course, he'd always visit with Jira too, as he'd grown fond of the boy in an almost fatherly way.

It was likely the man's own sense of pride at his usefulness to society that caused him to answer the negative as he grunted in surprise at the rather bold affections Lee was showing tonight.
"Of course not, you should work and be productive, of course, if that is your wish."
His words were only slightly slurred and his hands rested gently on the man's hips, fingering fine silk that reminded him of cool water sliding through his fingertips.
"What's gotten into you, hm?"

Lee sniffed bitterly, and kissed Jason's neck, then hugged him all the tighter. "It's difficult for me to explain... I've just wanted to be closer to you," he cooed into the bigger man's ear, wishing Jason hadn't dosed himself with that damned syringe.
"My... work... is going to keep me away from you for a while... so please don't think ill of me if we manage to miss each other." Better to keep it a secret from Jason, so he'd never know. "Maybe, when I'm done, I'll close the shop... Not much is coming from it, really..."
Lee started to shake, just then. It was hard, pretending everything was all right.

Even under the light fog of his drug, Jason could see that something was wrong, but it seemed Lee would not tell him what it was. Well, if that must be the case.
"You must be ill." he concluded, taking the burden of explaination away from his distant lover.
"Come along, then, I'll care for you." He struggled to his feet with Lee in his arms, setting the man up so he could limp upstairs with him. "Do you want your soup?"

Well, sick of something... he mused, but said nothing of Jason's guess.
"Yes, I should have something..." he murmured, picking up the tray. "I'll carry this... you just stay with me, all right?" he asked, nuzzling Jason with his side. "Please?"

He grunted some agreement and limped back out of the room, not quite able to make a steady pace, but it wasn't so far to go just up the hall, the stairs and to his room.
Of course, by the time he got there, he'd nearly forgotten Lee as he made his way to the far side of the bed where he paused to touch the small uniform that still hung on the post there, then flopped down on the bed and kicked his boot off, laying stationary for a moment before sitting up again to rid himself of his shirt, trousers and prosthetic limb. He suddenly remembered Lee and rolled back over to his own side of the bed, pulling his pillows out and stuffing them up against the headboard for Lee to rest again.
"Here then, you can read and have your soup, you'll feel well again tomorrow."

Lee had followed up after he had put back on the outer robes (not tying them, but wanting to keep everything together) and made his way back upstairs. Once dressed down to the under layer again, he sat on the edge of the bed and had his meal, then swung his legs up.
Taking a moment to pause, Lee looked at the room that he felt like he was invading, still wondering what the other man had been like before him. Of course, he was afraid to ask, not wanting to drive Jason into bad memories.
"Jason, would it be all right if I just lay against you? I just want to be close," he asked, hoping the younger man had not exhausted himself with the morphine injection and the earlier day.

"If you prefer. Aren't you going to undress? Have you decided to wear your traditional garments again?" he mumbled everything distractedly, shifting the pillows back so he could lie down on them.
"You should untie your hair, it looks much better down."

"Oh...not exactly, it was... spur of the moment..." Well, it wasn't my choosing... he thought, standing to take off the smooth silk, carefully folding the kosode on top of the rest of what he'd been wearing. He removed the jade pins from his hair, gently shaking it all out, letting it fall into waves from being up all the time. Once he cleansed his face of the powders and paint, he returned to the bed and turned down the oil lamp on his side and slipped into the bed, pressing right into the younger man.
"Do you miss me while we're apart?" he asked, gently laying a hand on Jason's chest.

"course." he mumured and draped one heavy arm over the man's waist, frowning only lightly at his nudity, and the oddly unfamiliar feel of the man's body, as it'd changed shape since they were last together in bed.
"'ve you lost weight..?"
