December 20 by the Gregorian calendar
Dear Eva,
I don't have long to spend on this letter because I have just discovered that I will be spending Christmas in America with my friend Adrien and his man! It's all very exciting, though for the first time in a very long time I have reasons that I will miss Paris, but I will be back before the New Year. (Adrien's man is pretty adamant about this.)
I hope everything is all right for you! It's one of the things I'm dreading about this duchess business, that they'll try to find me a suitable husband when I- and this is still a secret, not even Adrien knows it yet- I have met another boy. His name is Johan and he is nothing like Tybalt, which may take some getting used to, but he's just so handsome it almost hurts to look at him. <3 He's a little fragile and has to live with his uncle, who takes care of him, but he's so gentle and kind. He will be teaching me German so I can survive at Court!
I just hope it's not too fast, so soon after Tybalt had to go home, but I like him, Eva, I really do. I just feel this wonderful peace around him; it's like being home, really home.
I have to finish packing my things now. I hope this letter gets to you very quickly.
Yours, Meg

Dear Meg,
How exciting! I've always wanted to see the world- you'll have to bring back as many souvenirs from America as you can.
Best of luck with Johan as well- he sounds wonderful. I'm afraid I can't offer any advice, seeing as my own love life has consisted of an ill-advised affair with a criminal and now a man my mother wants me to marry (I still haven't decided what I think of him.) You'll have to tell me all about your new love!
Miss Susan (my childhood governess) always told me not to believe in romantic fairy tales, but that sense of peace around a man certainly sounds ideal. Good luck again!
Yours, Eva
