He wasn't exactly disreputable in his own right, but his family had always been a little bit dramatic.

"You're going to make me blush," he said, but he was far from bashful. "I hope I can meet both your parents."
Oh, now that was terribly bold. But he meant it, and his voice softened appropriately.

He reached over and squeezed her hand, then offered an elbow.
"Shall we then? I've got a picnic basket all arranged."

She blushed a slight bit harder when he squeezed her hand, but took his elbow with a smile and started toward the grounds.

Her mouth widened to an O in mock surprise before attempting not to break down in a fit of the giggles. Regaining her cool she adjusted her back and finally said "I'm sure they would be taking down your whole family if they could, mean gossiping women they are."
She nodded softly at a woman who squinted at them as she spoke to a student a year older than Nattie. "She would be having your head if she found out, and I thinking I'm not joking" she ended the sentence with a chuckle and pointed out past the tree's "I am knowing a great place."

In a few minutes they were behind a huge tree, probably oak, that both shaded and let the sun through. "I took walk the other day and found it, it's out of the prying eyes of the school but still on the grounds."

"It's lovely," he agreed, disengaging his arm to throw out the blanket. He knelt and began placing food on the blanket--the bottle of wine, with two glasses, came first.
"Right. Tell me about Russia," he said grandly. "You live in my country, but I don't know a single thing about yours. Where were you born?"

"St. Petersburg" she smiled "but my family is not living there, it is simply where my Otets and Mat where when she is going in to labor" she replied candidly while sitting down.
"My family is actually from a city closer to the Baltic sea."
