"Of course" Louis replied ice in his voice.
He disliked Daniel but he didn't hate him. That place in his heart was held for Lestat and Lestat only.
"How is it dear Daniel that whenever I am attempting to escape my demons simply appear as if from the air itself?" He raised his eyebrows, he knew that Daniel didn't follow him, his interests never really laid with Louis, but the coincidence itself was enough to at least ask
"Tell me."

"I used to drift from city to city. I don't know if I told you that before." He said, idly leaning against a lamppost.
"I never meant to stop in Paris for twenty years. But with all of these faces from the past cropping up, and...other things...well." He shrugged. "My moving on to somewhere else got delayed. But it's no surprise that we're both in London. It's another city that attracts the strange and macabre, much like Paris."

"It does seem to envelope people" he looked around at the persons finding it a strange mixture of the new world and the old. But unlike Paris it seemed to meld much easier "I don't believe I actually know much about you, other than what those books told me."
He didn't really want to learn much about Daniel, he reminded him too much of Lestat in some of the worse ways.

"I was fairly ordinary as a human," he said, smiling faintly. "Nothing as exciting as a nobleman with a huge house."
For once, he wasn't using a mocking tone.

"But you were a writer" he said eyebrows raised "that had to be something special."

"I suppose...I barely remember. I only had one book that went anywhere, and that was quite a while ago. I didn't do anything after."

"Why?"
Louis was intrigued.
The man behind the monster.

Daniel chuckled.
"Because after that book was published, I ran into Armand. The rest, as they say, is history."

"Ah" Louis pursed his lips just for a moment then tilted his head "what is stopping you now?"

He blinked, going blank-faced as he tried to formulate a response. Nobody every asked that question.
"How would I publish the thing? I'm supposed to be dead." He finally said. "And I haven't thought of even trying in ages."

"Have you not heard of pseudonyms? Self publishing?" Louis started walking again, attempting not to stand out in his oversized coat.

"Of course I have. I just...haven't felt the need to since then."
He sounded almost regretful, which was an extremely rare emotion for Daniel to have. But thinking back, he did recall that once upon a time, he'd once been so into his writing that it'd been difficult to tear him away from it. Now, he didn't even think about it.
"I suppose I could try, though I don't know what I'd write about." He suddenly chuckled. "I could make like Lestat and write about my life."

"They say write what you know, do they not?"

"Well, I--"
He stopped. It seemed so absurd to him, and yet...
"I might."

Louis smiled, a fleeting image of the man he'd been before his brothers death.
What he was asking Daniel to do was something he never could, go back in time. Daniel has a chance to recapture it, the light that made him human once.
Louis doubted he'd ever have a bigger impact than simply existing.
"And that is all one could ask."
