It was fairly easy to find out which room Miss Giosetta Beppo was in, really. And he knew that on Sundays, all the maids had the day off. So because she was new to the place, and probably hadn't made close enough friends with the other maids to have them show her around, he had taken it upon himself.
Also, his sister had canceled on their picnic after Mass, so he had a basket of food and utensils sitting unused, but the first explanation was probably better. Giosetta seemed very nice, and certainly interesting. So here he was, dressed in a very smart linen suit, entirely appropriate for picnicking. He knocked at the door.

All in all, this was probably the best job she'd ever kept. But still there was the game of doomsaying in the back of her head-- how would it end? The master of the house making passes? Her alternate careers coming to light? Or merely that under artificial light the olive tone of her skin was actually a light puce color. That tended to either intrigue or alarm potential employers. Still, it was a good established way to make money on weekdays. Her weekends, however...
Beppo had just gotten back from an amateur spot of photo-taking in the park, in the early hours of the morning, and was still dressed for it, a crisp and rather fanciful white dress. She smoothed out her skirts before answering the door.
Peeking out, she said playfully "Oh! It's just you."

He grinned in a manner which was unconsciously charming. "Are you dressed?" He gestured vaguely to the picnic basket and stepped back to let her see it. "I thought I might show you Paris, you being new and all."

It was very hard not to smile when Henri was around.
"Oh! Of course." Thank goodness she hadn't just been adjusting her stockings or anything. Embarrassing. "I was just settling in, what a wonderful idea!"

Henri stepped back so she could exit the room without bumping into him.
"Wonderful! The carriage is outside."

Beppo brushed past him, in a waft of perfume.
"The carriage?"
Hopefully it wouldn't be pulled by terrifyingly oversized steel robot horses, this time.

Something in the back of his head vaguely noted that she smelled nice. He nodded at her query. "The city proper is a bit far to walk."
Just normal horses, as it were, though impeccably bred and matched.

She bobbed her head a little. "I understand."
Trying to walk anywhere on Luna without getting lost, robbed, or abducted was always an uncertain prospect, but at least there she knew her way around the backstreets and could reasonably defend herself. Paris was a new prospect.

"I thought we might go to the Jardin du Luxembourg, then walk around there, but if you want to see anywhere else..."

"That sounds lovely enough on its own." Listen, Beppo, you are girlish and demure. She reached tentatively for his arm.

He offered it, naturally, meeting her halfway.
The carriage was, as stated, waiting outside, ready for them both. It had the Pontmercy crest on one door, as well as the family name written below it.
