It was a good thing Belle's wedding dress had been picked out with the usual idea of outshining the bridesmaids in mind, because this was probably the most put-together and conventionally beautiful Magda had ever looked. Her hair was arranged tidily, her dress fit properly, and she had even agreed to wear an appropriately delicate pair of shoes, which revealed that she actually had rather small and delicate ankles and feet in spite of her usual heavy boots.
She was quite aware of this too, reflection or not, and held her head high and proudly- and perhaps a little smugly- in spite of the annoyed sighs her presence alone was having on some of the guests as she made her way up to the altar as part of the wedding party.

Graf Johannes von Krolock and his lovely wife, Belle... Count and Countess von Krolock... Count Johannes and Countess Belle von Krolock...
To say Johannes' mind was whirling with the possibilities would perhaps be an overstatement, but he found thinking of possible future introductions to be quite a good way to keep his sanity at a moment like this.
He was about to get married.
Him. The big bad vampire count. Married.
No matter how sure he was that Belle was the love of his unlife the idea remained somewhat alien and the groom was quite sure it would remain like that until after they'd exchanged their vows and were officially married.
Married. Him. To Belle.
It was enough to make your heart beat.
Which was quite possibly why anyone looking towards the groom waiting by the altar would see nothing but a handsome picture of happiness and pride. For who wouldn't be proud to be marrying a woman like Belle? A woman he still considered himself unworthy of, but who had in all her wisdom decided to be foolish enough to love him.

Herbert offered his father an encouraging smile.

Johannes grinned back at his son. His best man. At his wedding.
The image brought back memories of his first wedding and, enjoyable as they were, the count had to push them aside. While he would always love his late wife, today was only for him and Belle. This was their wedding day and any comparison would be unfair.
He should just consider himself a lucky man to have had two lovely and intelligent women struck by the same sort of insanity that apparently addled their impressive brains enough to consider him a good husband.
Most people didn't even get to be that happy once, let alone in two separate lifetimes.

Magda glanced at Herbert and pressed her lips together.

Herbert saw Magda staring at him and looked away quickly, a little guiltily.

There was, however, not much of a chance for any lasting grudges to be expressed, because the doors opened one more time and Belle appeared on her father's arm.

It was a good thing Johannes had no need for breath, because the sight of his bride was more than enough to take anyone's breath away.
He was almost inclined to start believing in a God again.
Belle was a true vision of stunning beauty.
And soon she would be his.
Anyone would be stunned by the smile on his face, a sign of pure happiness even Johannes had thought himself incapable of.

Belle smiled at him from under the veil.

Once again Johannes was wondering what he'd ever done to deserve a woman like her.
He'd probably keep wondering that for all eternity.
He could deal with that.

She did have to keep a snugger-than-usual hold on her father's arm during the walk to the altar; some of the guests looked extremely peckish, after all.
When they reached the altar, Belle made sure he was nearer Herbert than the others- Herbert, with his odd rules about politeness and such, flashed him what was a likely failed but nevertheless attempted fangy smile- and stood beside Johannes.

Johannes beamed at his bride and only protocol prevented him from gushing about how utterly amazing she looked.
While not the luckiest man alive by a technicality, the count Von Krolock definitely considered himself the luckiest man on earth.

The wedding ceremony itself was filled with odd and rather unanticipated vampire rituals that Belle allowed Johannes to guide her through.

Well, to be honest, most of the ceremony had been invented not that long beforehand... vampires generally weren't the marrying type, as Queen Lilith had helpfully pointed out not too long ago.
Therefore it was a good thing that there were creative types like Herbert and Magda around to basically invent the vampire wedding concept. Johannes himself had been rather useless and after much eyerolling, harrumphing and such he had actually been more or less ejected from the room.
This pleased him.
Yet it pleased him not nearly as much as this wedding. In the end it had all worked out quite beautiful, even if the symbolism escaped his poor brain sometimes.
