It was a quiet ceremony, more like a legal consultation than a wedding until they reached the vows.
"Here, if you'll read off this card..."
Adrian took it and glanced at Adrien.

He loved that they were marrying in French. He read off it proudly, his reading like a painful declamation from a schoolboy in a pagent who has no idea what the emotion behind his lines is meant to convey, but is determined to do his best for mummy and daddy in the second row, and gazed at Adrian adoringly all the while.

Adrian managed to immediately copy the vows to memory with the appropriate alterations in the appropriate places, save for one small detail.
"Moi, Adrian Veidt, je te prend Adrien Baillon pour être mon épouse..."

He was gonna be Adrian's husband.
And Adrian's wife.
He reached out and laced their fingers, visibly bouncing on his heels.

"...jusqu'à la mort nous sépare."
He glanced back over toward the officiant.

He squeezed his hand.

There was a little more officious business and forms to be signed, and then:
"Par la puissance qui me sont conférés par la République Française et cette ambassade, je vous déclare mariés. Vous pouvez embrasser le... la... marié...e."
Adrian ignored the awkwardness of the phrasing and bent down to kiss Adrien.

He threw his arms around him and quivered in ecstasy.

Adrian smiled and kissed him again.

Adrien cupped his face and leaned in to kiss him a third time. He heard someone clear their throat slightly awkwardly, and proceeded to ignore it.

"We should go," Adrian whispered, half-laughing.

He nodded, beaming, and followed Adrian out.

"It's a shame I can't offer you any flowers to mark the occasion," he said, happily pulling Adrien against him, "though I imagine the rings can be purchased now if you'd like-"

"Yes, let's buy the rings!" he said, wrapping around him and looking like a little china doll.

Adrian actually lifted him up and perched him in the crook of his arm, just beaming the whole time.
