"Ah. Well, Eve wasn't so bad. Nice girl, and pretty bright, too. I actually had to convince her to eat the apple. It was a nice, long, philosophical debate, which I always love. Adam just took her word for it."

He looked very impressed, even to the point of forgetting his notes. He slid his glasses a bit down his nose to look at him squarely... and realized that the demon had, indeed, snake eyes.
He laughed a little, caught off guard, and gestured towards them. "Nice look there."

He shrugged. "Haven't really got a choice in the matter, but thanks."

He leaned in and peered at them, like checking a specimen.

"Could you stop that? Just because I've got an animal's eyes doesn't mean I'm one."

"Well, in all fairness, you're not human either. Not that that would stop me."
He leaned back and took more notes, readjusting his eyeglasses, folding one knee up so he could lean the clipboard on it.

"Well, that's a little creepy. So's the clipboard. What are you even writing?"

"Lovely." He finished his drink. "What have you got on me, so far?"

"Surely your memory's good enough that I don't have to read it off," he said, faux-lightly, but weirdly, jealously possessive and protective of his notes, a habit born from years of hiding his studies from teachers and other students - and of feeling overpowered and sometimes humiliated from his father snatching away his writing to read it, often out loud.

"I'm just curious what you thought was interesting enough to write down. I imagine the eyes and the bit about Eden would be, but you've been writing a lot more than that."

"You're not that ugly," he said smugly.
