"There is a thing Erika is curious about--something Julian was not clear on. Who is his mother?"

*Erik's lips curled in a secret smile.*
"Erik is. The daroga is his father."
*He paused.*
Female. Daroga.

*She rolled her eyes*
"Please do not tell Erika that you actually have taken to that ridiculous notion. Men cannot be mothers as they are not female!"

*Erik shrugged easily.*
"Nevertheless, it happened. Erik carried him, until such time as it became necessary for Death--a particular friend of Erik's--to intervene. Death pulled Julian into this world from another plane--but another mother, he has none."

*She slowly nodded, not believing a single word he said but not feeling up to arguments at the moment*
"Yes, well...Erika can see how that may be seen as odd."

*Erik laughed.*
"You do not believe Erik, nor do you have reason to. It matters little; perhaps the terminology is erroneous, but Julian likes to call him that and Erik does not object."
*He hesitated, oddly wanting to give her some little comfort.*
"Neither of Erik's children look like him," *he offered.* "Like his true face."

*She nodded, glad to hear that*
"Erika had always been of a mind that, if by some miracle she ever bore a child, it would have the misfortune of wearing her face. She is glad that such a thing would not happen."
*Even though such a hypothetical child would never come to exist in the first place.
She tilted her head curiously at Erik*
"More than one? There is another aside from Julian?"

"Yes," *he said almost tenderly.* "Pina. She is... with her mother now. But she will return."
*He shrugged.*
"Her nose is... well, it is not well-endowed. But she has so much less need to cover her face, Erik wonders why her mother trained her to do so. She is happy. Happier than we were."

"A girl..." She said wistfully, briefly thinking of the girl she'd freed before willing herself back to the present.
"Pina. Erika is glad that at least one Phantom may have family."

"You--"
*He bit the word off. He could offer her nothing. Nothing real, anyway.
He didn't know how.*
"You may yet have the opportunity," *he said.*

*She shook her head*
"Erika's situation is a far cry from your own. She has no Daae, now; she has no one, not even the oftentimes irritating Nadira."

*Erik raised an eyebrow in amusement. Nadira?*
"Something tells Erik your Nadira would not be adverse to more intimacy than you have been led to believe," *he said.*

"Oh? Do you perhaps have more insight into the character of Nadira? Or should I say--Nadir?"

"Nadir--Erik's Nadir--is a complicated man. Who does not know what he wants, and can be persuaded to thinks you think impossible. He both loves and fears you. When Erik came to him with his new face full of sorrow, it was a matter of minutes before Nadir proved his love to Erik in a most surprising, and enjoyable, fashion. Erik does not think now that the new face was entirely necessary.
"Erik thinks Nadira wants you without knowing it. Yet."

*She absorbed all of this for a moment before answering*
"Erika does not think Nadira has any sort of feeling for her beyond grudging respect. And, if it were that Nadira were thinking of Erika in such a way, it would be futile on Nadira's part as Erika finds that uninteresting."
