"Need to get our exercise anyway" he called up to Marie to tell her he was going out. "We need to do a little shopping, and pick up some things."

"I get plenty of exercise," he said, adding just enough tone to the words to make them almost sound suggestive.

John caught the tone, even if Laszlo didn't intend it, he laughed nervously "Yea."
Heading out the door, John started toward a market.

He followed, hands jammed in his pockets, whistling.

When they came in to the market a few people waved at John and he smiled waving back. He knew so many people, sure, but were they friends? No, they were people he'd helped, people who helped him, and he loved them all, glad that they could be a part of his life, and he for them.
But what John wanted was more than that, what John needed was someone to hold at night. Someone to love and as much as his children gave him love, again it wasn't what he needed.
Of course, his silly crush on Laszlo was not what he needed either, as he knew nothing would come of that.
Walking up to a stall with some necklaces John smirked "I should get something for Marie and Hazel."

The object of his affection, wholly unaware of said affection, leaned over to look at what John was perusing.
"Isn't that a bit pricey?"
In his mind, all jewelry tended to be worth far more than they should be, considering it was in truth metal and stones.

"Yea, but the girls don't have a whole lot of pretty things, and I've got just a little bit of extra cash I was going to spend on some new shoes" he looked down at his worn boots and laughed "but I think they deserve it, they've been so helpful lately."

"I could buy you new shoes." He said, almost automatically.
Thanks to the bit he'd saved, he'd already replaced his own worn-down clothes with newer (and more modern) versions. Now he looked less like someone from the streets and more like a very casual version of one of those goth people.

"You don't have to do that" he blushed a bit "I can deal with these a bit longer."

"I want to, my dear sir. Besides, they look like they're going to explode soon. I don't think you can wait much longer." He said with a wink.

John chuckled "Fine, but I am going to complain about it the entire time."

He shook his head.
"Remember what I said--you deserve to be given things, too."

John sighed, he knew when a war was won "All right, all right, you win."

László grinned.
"Good man."

John looked around the jewelry for a bit before purchasing two silver necklaces for a reasonable price.
"Okay, we need to get some bread, like 5 loves."
