*Hapless as always, Raoul kept studying the stage and fiddled with his cravat.*

*Raoul did the same, minus the hair-twirling. He hummed along off-key with one of the pieces he recognized.*

*He turned. He hadn't noticed the girl there.*
"Oh, no, you haven't intruded. I was merely watching." *He said cordially.*

*He shrugged.*
"I don't... er, know... I'm just the patron."

"It's fine." *He said, frowning for upsetting her.* "I've no more right to be here than anyone else, and I certainly don't mind if you watch the rehearsal."

*He shrugged.*
"Go ahead." *He said politely.*

*A moment after M. le Vicomte had left the auditorium, Mlle. Daae scurried in, late for rehearsal as she took her place in the chorus, looking pale. Her music lesson had gone on longer than usual--but she could not divulge such a secret as the reason for her tardiness.*

((Considering this is what I wanted to happen in rehearsal in the first place....))
*He realized once in his carriage that he'd forgotten his hat. He had plenty of hats but he rather liked this one and so had decided to go get it.*
*He looked up after grabbing it from the seat he'd been occupying previously and spotted someone who seemed familiar, a brown-haired dancer who looked like she had her head in the clouds. He thought for a few moments before it hit him like a ton of bricks.*
"Christine Daae!" *He said to himself, straightening immediately as if hit with a jolt of lightening. They'd played together as children; he'd rescued her scarf from the sea! He sat there looking at her for a moment, and looking at how she'd changed.*

*Christine had been staring absently at the ceiling, falling out of step. Madame Giry ((shut up, I can do this)) pounded her cane against the stage.*
"Daae! Concentrate, girl!"
*Chastened, Christine hurried to catch up.*

*Well, maybe she wasn't much of a dancer. But he supposed she could still sing. He realised he'd been staring even if she hadn't, so he looked away. It took him a few seconds but he plucked up his courage to go stand next to the managers and observe the rehearsal like a proper patron instead of a timid maid at the back. They were, as always, being incompetent.*

((GODMOOOODE NPC CANON!))
*Someone stepped on La Carlotta's train and all hell broke loose for a time before the diva stomped away, leaving that evening's show hanging in the balance.*
"Christine Daae can sing it, Sir," *came a voice that should be Meg's, but she's not here in person so I feel bad godmoding her, esp. if you want to get into R/M later on and would rather have a better first meeting. from the crowd on stage. The managers scoffed, but after Mme. Giry voiced her support for the girl, they allowed her to try an aria.
Christine was pale and shaking, but managed the aria with ease, her voice clear, sweet, and strong.*

*He blinked at her, astonished, before snapping out of it and bursting into applause once she stopped singing, along with everyone else.*

*Christine was still pale, but she hesitantly smiled as the applause broke out around her. Someone took her off to begin working on costume alterations, and M. Reyer followed, shouting something about keys and codas.*

*He'd be back for the performance later tonight. With that, he turned and left.*
