Megan nodded and hurried out.

Turning to Adrian Dan frowned "She's scared to death of you."

"I used to be too" Dan said truthfully "if you remember right, I was just as awkward as she it, only I had a mask to hide behind."
Well she will soon, once I finish the final stitches.

"I was just a kid when I started, if I didn't try to look at least a little tough, I would have fell apart. Just like her, fumbling about and all, the costume allowed me to pretend, at least for a little while, that I was someone like you. Confident, strong you know."
Dan closed his eyes, allowing his head to swim.

Adrian smiled a little sadly.
"Times are changing. It's a difficult era for a young mask to be starting on her own."
He gave Dan a pointed look, making it plain that he knew exactly what kind of role Megan was taking on.

Opening his eyes, he managed to catch Adrian's gaze "She won't be starting on her own, she'll be with me." He said returning his look "She's all ready come out with me once, although-" the image of her cradled in the back of Archie came to the front of his mind "-that didn't go so well, but she's gotten so much better since then. I believe in her, and with the right motivation, she'll be confident and strong and so on."
Although Dan knew that being a superhero wasn't exactly the way to go to feel better about yourself. But it did teach you a lot of things that normal life couldn't.

"It's not the most effective tactic, but I admire your perseverance."
He took a small sip and then continued, "For the tradition to continue, it makes sense that a newer, younger generation would be rising up now. None of us are getting any younger."

"There are so many here in Paris alone, it seems once they outlawed us over there, they all came here. I just recently ran in to Batman on patrol, the god damn Batman."
He smiled, still quite proud of his association with the Dark Knight.

"Ah, yes. Our friend the Bat. I'd ask you to tell Mr. Wayne I said hello next time you see him, but I can't imagine it would end well."

"Mr.... Wayne?"
Dan blinked "Wait what? He's Bruce Wayne?! How did you, oh screw it, you're the smartest man in the world, you probably just figured it out huh?"

"There are vibrations in his voice that he can't disguise beyond a certain point," Adrian said, shrugging delicately.

"You can hear vibrations in someones voice and I have to turn up the TV because I can't hear someone shouting" he shook his head with a laugh. "What the hell did college even teach me?"
