"Of course it is," Adrian said with a brief patronizing nod toward Megan. "Dan, it's no trouble at all."
Inside, the long table was decked out in almost a parody of a luxuriant Thanksgiving spread, complete with a glistening, juicy turkey sitting half-carved in the center. The city skyline shone in the background, with a hilariously perfectly timed shooting star somewhere over the Opera Quarter.
Adrian sat at the head of the table and gestured for one of the attending staff to hurry out another place setting.

Dan came to the table and held out a chair opposite of himself to sit in, the turkey indeed look delicious, and Dan hadn't eaten much that day.
"You're staff did a wonderful job" he looked about the table and smiled "Thanksgiving wasn't exactly tradition in my family, mother was a trite bit political when it came to American history. She swore she'd never celebrate something, that represented something so terrible. Of course I can understand what she meant, but as a kid, well all you want to do is eat and see your cousins you haven't seen all year."
Dan had since sat down and was pulling a napkin down to his lap.

"Regretful as the original circumstances of the holiday may be, it at least functions as a welcome reminder of our good fortune," Adrian said.

"I'm just glad I'm getting one," Megan giggled.

"Yea" Dan smiled at Megan "it's at least got some warm memories attached it to."

"Would that the circumstances were better..."

Dan held up his hand, it wasn't something he'd do normally, and never to Adrian, but at the moment, he felt it completely necessary. "Not right now Adrian, let's just put on our smiles and make the best of our time together."

Megan lifted her eyebrows, impressed.

"Feel free to begin."

Dan smiled, a slight bit shaken however, not that he was a pushover or anything, it was just at times... even he surprised himself.
"Thank you" Dan slowly filled his plate with everything he could fit, being generous but not covetous. "With a feast like this Adrian, other than the salad, I don't see much here that you could eat?"
Of course being Dan, instead of this statement coming off as disrespectful, it was thoughtful and curious.

"I'm not a monk, Daniel."

Dan laughed "That's not what I mean, I mean, well obviously I know jack shit about what it means to be a vegetarian, and I'm probably mixing it up with vegan. I really can't tell the difference."

"I abstain from meat," Adrian said primly.

Dan nodded with a smile "I guess that's smart, I mean... even fish?"

"It's flesh, isn't it?"
